. . . .It was really foggy this morning so I expected that to burn off and the sun to come shinning through. No such luck, I’m afraid. It was cold most of the day but little rain fell, or snow, goodie, goodie. Watched a SiFi movie on MGM Channel. I didn’t like it, poorly done and lousy acting. It reminded me of the long ago Saturday afternoon Serial Movies that we used to see in the theatres. . . . I just realized that tomorrow is a holiday so I suppose I will not be bowling. I’ll change my plans to Monday for that. . . . I wish you all a very happy New Year!

. . . . Another quiet day on Pleasant Hill Drive. Got a few sprinkles but no really cold weather. I fixed a stir fry for dinner, I’m getting pretty good at that! This evening I watched a couple of commercial free movies and was in bed by 9PM. No exercise today, I’m sorry to say.

. . . I had more fun shopping than bowling today. And I am not at all crazy about shopping. My bowling scores were 142-110-122, yikes!  Oh well, I guess I won’t be turning pro for a while. But that’s OK, somebody has to be here to feed the dog. I watched football this evening, the Washington/Baylor game was fun and I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter I had while that was going on.

 .  .  .I walked for an hour again today, the rain was steady all day, and it was dark out all of the time. At 8AM headlights were still needed and by 4PM it was time to turn them back on. I am looking forward to bowling tomorrow, it causes me to get out of the house and move around a little. I think another stop at Safeway would be in order also. I have heard that the weather is to clear over the weekend, that will be a good thing. The temperature was not bad today, my thermometer was reading 52 at noon.

Day After Christmas. . . I went bowling today. For all of the good it did me. 163-151-103-137-106-120-. I think that works out to about nine points below my average. The good news is that quite often when I don’t do well at practice I make up for it during league play. If that holds true this week I will do well on Thursday. Gotta’ be positive about important matters such as these! After I got back home I had a small lunch and spent over an hour on the computer working out some chess moves. Later in the day I watched football commercials between the plays. Fun. It was raining again by bedtime, I think that is going to become an every day thing since winter has arrived.

Christmas Day. . . .The drought has ended, again. I drove into town expecting the bowling alley to be open but it was not. So I ended up enjoying a nice drive in the rain. I gave some thought to washing the car when I got back to the house but the Temperature had dropped to about 36 and I felt that was too low for such business. It was warm and toasty inside so I decided to sit back and soak up some relaxation for the day. I ate too much I suppose, but that will not keep me from popping up a bowl of popcorn to enjoy while watching some football this evening. Terri phoned me from Hawaii this afternoon, I was really happy to hear her sweet voice, she is a very nice lady, I kid you not.. . . .  Ron gave me a Toy R.C. car for Christmas so this afternoon I removed it from the package and installed the batteries. I swear to goodness my dog knew exactly what I was up to the minute he saw that thing on the living room floor. Needless to say I chased him all over the house with it until he hid in the bedroom. I then parked the thing right at the bedroom door and he stayed in there for over two hours before working up the nerve to scoot past it and jump into my lap.

Christmas Eve Day.. . . . I had all of my computer stuff all caught up before 8AM this morning. Part of that reason is that it is weekend in Europe and my chess playing friends don’t bother me much on weekends. It was still very dark out this early, lots of rain up north so perhaps there were a lot of heavy clouds covering the sun. I noticed we missed the rain from north of us. That pleased me! I arrived at the Teigen’s a little after 4PM and after Pizza and some conversation we commenced opening gifts. The two boys had the time of their lives!

It was a great Christmas watching those two! Colt, three years old did a great job tearing the paper off the gifts but he handed them to his mom to open the boxes underneath. He opened the Rockin’ Mickey and was set for the rest of the evening, it was a long time before he became interested in any of the unopened gifts stacked up around him. Caren had a very good spinach dip; I didn’t think  liked spinach dip until I tried that. I was home just as the second half of the football game from Hawaii  started. It was a fine evening, I was really happy to be there.

. . . . I did get my French toast cooked and placed in the freezer. I ate a slice of it with a glass of milk for lunch. Pretty good groceries, if I do say so myself. Mel and Tippy dog stopped by for a while to drop off some Christmas gifts from them and Billy. The sun was out shortly after 1PM. The temperature got to about 50 today, not bad for this part of the county so near Christmas. I did walk for an hour too. Mel came back early afternoon to bring ChiChi a bone that is almost as large as he is. There was almost enough meat on it to make a pot of soup.

My day was good but my bowling was really awful 118-128-96. I have no idea what the problem was but I could do nothing right. I finished my Christmas shopping and wrapped and delivered my last gift today. I also stopped by Safeway for more groceries, all fresh fruits and vegetables by the way! I have not eaten any ice cream for more than a week but my weight still stays too high, life in the big city, I guess. After bowling I stopped by to deliver Billy his gift then went to Teigen's to do the same. Caren was very happy for the flowers that I had ordered earlier. Caren had delivered some of Ron's gifts to me a few days ago and I wrapped them for her and delivered them today too. I told Ron that all the gifts that filled the trunk of my car had his name on them except the two for the boys. Caren heard me and said nothing so I told her I probably confused Ron but I didn't lie to him. She thought that was funny, I don't think Ron reads my blog so it will be interesting to see if he really believes all of those gifts were really from me. I guess Caren and I are pretty bad.

Well, Thursday evening, so I will watch some commercials then get to bed. I have no plans for tomorrow but it is time to prepare some more French Toast to put in the freezer so that may be a chore to do. I hope I can force myself to walk for an hour too. I have to exercise away that Burger and fries I had for lunch before bowling.

. . . .It seems the trouble I was having with my voice yesterday has cleared up. I certainly hope it stays that way. There was no frost this morning, I am beginning to think we may be having a nice stretch of weather for this time of year. As soon as I say something like that Mother Nature will come along and shoot me down. Really foggy this morning so I was expecting the sun would come out by noon and it did clear a little but not completely. I am happy to report that I walked for another hour today, I say that in case my doctor is reading my blog. Just another quiet, Pleasant Hill day!

. . . .When I woke up this morning and ChiChi came running to greet me I discovered I was getting a bit of bronchitis. It slowly got worse as the day progressed until I decided to try a Halls lounges. That seemed to help a little. We will see how I feel tomorrow morning. My laundry is all caught up again. I discovered that walking for an hour does not hurt at all. I don’t know where it came from but suddenly I decided to force myself into it. After the walk I had lunch, folded clothes and did some reading. Of course the reading always leads to napping so I accomplished that too. It has been a good day!

. . . . .I have enjoyed a very quiet day; got my reading caught up as well as any sleep I may have missed in the past month. The most exciting thing that happened was this evening after dark. When I let ChiChi out I always open the kitchen door to the garage rather than the front door. From there he uses a small cat door Roy had put in for his cat several years ago. I then push the kitchen  door back to the almost closed position [but not latched] so the cold air stays out but he can, by pushing against the door, open it and return to the house. After I fed him this evening I let him out and he was gone long enough for me to completely forget about him. After a while I became aware that he was out there barking his fool head off but I was interested in O’Reilly so I ignored him. All of a sudden there was a great crash behind me [that is where the door is] and the dog came rushing in. He must have been running at full speed when he smashed his little body against that door, he then skidded on the linoleum attempting to gain traction as he headed at a fear filled gallop toward the couch. I thought for sure a mountain lion was behind him. He jumped up on the back of the stuffed couch and began to bark like crazy out the window. By then he had my attention so I jumped up to look out the window too. I saw nothing, it was darker than a coal pit out there. I walked to the door to close it and as I did so he thought I was interested enough to follow him out through the doggie door and continue the investigation. He took off like a shot guessing, I suppose, that I was right behind him. No such luck, doggie, looking out the window I watched him running toward the edge of the parking area barking again. I never saw what his problem was so I reset the door and left him out there. He came back  a few minutes later all at peace with the world. Silly dog. Just another exciting day in Pleasant Hill. The rest of the evening will be used to watch my Monday night commercials then off to bed to read myself to sleep.

. . .  . My bowling results made me happy again160-145-175-167-140-129- Pretty close to a 152 average. Not bad for me. After bowling I stopped by the dollar store and found another book to add to my collection of unread books and three book CD’s for a dollar each. I usually don’t buy their CD’s because they are mostly novels but these were history so I couldn’t turn them down. Forty six degrees out today, not bad but I think it is about 75 in Hawaii. This evening I tried to watch Football but nothing held my interest for long so I switched to a movie; that turned out sort of boring too. I put the movie on pause and fixed some popcorn, that helped a little. After the movie I posted the blog and went to bed to read myself to sleep.

. . . .I cooked up a pot of beans today. Tasted pretty good, if I do say so myself. I added some red chili pepper and that helped it a lot, the garlic did too. Never did walk today, just lazy, I’ve been feeling fine. My Christmas wrapping is all caught up, finished in fact. I have several to deliver in the next few days, then I can relax again until next time. The sun was out this afternoon. I did not say warm, just out. Radar shows no serious precipitation in the area. That pleases me. Cousin Sharon phoned today but I must have been taking trash out at the time. It was the only time I was away from the phone all day.

. . . I drove into Castle Rock this morning to take pictures of the historical sign thanking Barbara and other officials for their aid in making the street restoration in town possible. Stopped by Teigen’s for a few minutes then went by Mel’s place for a gift delivery. Tippy was chasing chickens and pulling their feathers, A new cow has arrived, came in from across the way by accident or her own design, she is eating her full of very fine grass and has the field all to herself. Mel will be doing some fence repair, I suppose. I had lunch, read and napped, oh, forgot to mention the sun was out most of the day. That was nice, got to about 46 degrees. Went to bed early and read myself to sleep then woke up about 1AM and remembered I had not posted the blog for the day. So, here it is!

.  .. ...My PSA test came out much better this time, 3.1 which is a mite high but OK considering how I would have felt had it been up from last time. Another dodged bullet, goodie, goodie. After seeing the doctor I stopped by Safeway for milk and stuff then went to the bowling alley. I was very hungry and ordered a burger with fries about the time bowling started so my first game was pretty bad. I then did much better in game two and ended up with a 145 average which is a bit better than my 139 league average. The scores were 104-188-144. I walked out of there feeling very good. I had intended to stop by Teigens and Mels place but after getting home and putting the groceries away I was just too lazy to go out again. It rained here during the night and it looks like that may continue for a while. I am glad it was not icy out, that is a good thing.

. . . . Since I had my lab work done yesterday I had no reason to go out of the house today. I was able to force myself into walking for an hour; that was my total accomplishment for the past 24 hours. I read a lot and took a nap, played with the dog and ate too much. My weight is hovering around 200 pounds and I will talk to the doctor about that tomorrow. I think the problem is water retention. Barbara had the same trouble and that was caused by her heart not being strong enough to do its job. I suppose that is my problem too. It goes with my other heart related problems. Always something, darn it!

. . . I drove into Longview this morning for a PSA blood draw [it was at 4.7 3 months ago] and the outside temperature was a balmy 25. I then drove home for some breakfast and time on the computer before meeting the ‘gang of 52’ for lunch. We all had a good time at lunch, telling lies and eating too much. Typical ‘guy’ stuff. I drove by the bowling alley on the way home with bowling in mind but after seeing so many cars in the parking lot I decided to go on home. After arriving home I packaged up a couple of things that needed mailing for Christmas and took them to the post office. Natalia, the lady in Mazatlan whom I will be visiting next month likes Tillamook cheese so I asked about sending a pound to Mexico. It would have cost $21.05 to send first class. Never mind. I will carry a couple of pounds down there in my suitcase when I go. This evening was O’Reilly time and getting caught up with my chess games on the Internet.

Three years ago tomorrow we had 14 inches of snow on the ground at Barbara’s place. There is no chance of that happening again, is there?

. . . . All day I have felt like there is something I am supposed to be doing. I am thinking that must be an easy thought since I have done absolutely nothing as it is. This evening I will watch the Seattle football game on TV and remember how Barbara never missed a game without good reason. Tomorrow I will have lunch with the ‘gang of 52’ but have no further plans. . . . . My bowling today was hot and cold-149-113-123-131-210-110- The average was 144 so I can not complain too much. The 210 was thrown after I ate a hamburger, that just tells me that my blood sugar level is really important when I am bowling.

This afternoon was spent watching football and napping, getting rested up so I can enjoy the popcorn and a commercial free movie ON DEMAND in a little while.

It has been cold out, doggie comes in and jumps in my lap and I start to shiver! Poor doggie.

. . . . . I was awake at 5AM to watch the eclipse. Mother Nature did a good job of entertaining me for over an hour before the orange moon slipped and fell into a cloud bank. Terri said it was a bright moon in Hawaii but I guess we had more stuff in the air so it came out sort of like a dirty orange here. The moon was fully visible, it was dark but none of the ‘roundness’ disappeared. I walked today, for almost an hour, I stopped early because I wanted to watch Army pull their Navy game out of the hole but that never happened. I had stir fry for lunch, I’m getting pretty good at that stir fry recipe, I just cook up the stuff I like and go for it! I have learned that when using beef it is not a good idea to use a cheap cut of meat. It makes chewing too tough. In future I will get a good cut and or use pork/chicken. I bet properly flavored hamburger would do very will too. That is the nice thing about stir fry, every thing works. My chess score has dropped below 1800 so I seldom mention my games. I have about half a dozen going at the moment, I usually lose about half of my games. I hate when that happens. Never did shave today, that is rare for me but for some reason I was lazy. It took about all I had in me to talk myself into the 45 minute walk. Finished my Christmas wrapping, that is a good thing. I watched the Republican thingy on TV this evening, that is always fun. Bowling tomorrow!

. . . Today we enjoyed a bright day of sunshine; treats like that are so easy to get used to! Radar shows some showers way off the coast but with luck they will stay there for a few more days. Until the end of June would be nice. I walked for an hour today only to keep the doctor happy. Started Christmas wrapping but decide to lay down and read. I woke up an hour and a half later hungry; looks like I may get back to the wrapping again tomorrow. Life is good!

. . . . We had a frost last night, that could become a regular thing before too long. I had a good time today, my bowling scores were something to brag about: 146-170-139 = 152 average. 150 is what I want on a consistent basis so I am calling this day a success. After bowling I went grocery shopping and Christmas spending, I am about caught up in both departments. Now I have to get the wrapping behind me and I will be all set! Puppy and I are doing fine and feeling good.

. . . . Another lazy day under the clouds. The temperature outside may have reached 44 but I wouldn’t bet on it. I did walk for an hour so I can say I got my exercise, the day was not a complete loss. This is another attempt  to post to this blog via the laptop. I am sitting in Barbs old recliner in my living room typing away.  I have found  that Word Starter Program will allow me to do this and it has a spell checker.  The ‘Sticky Note’ feature worked fine but without a spell checker or the ability to ‘save’ the work for later use. Now I want to find a way to list my various links to the bottom of the entry

Well, that was fun , now I will type out my daily doings on the desk top and transfer the whole thing to the blog. . . .I walked for over an hour today before taking a nap. Did a little on line shopping and also read for a while. The daytime high temperature hit 40 under a thick cloud cover. There is sign of rain falling off the coast of Astoria so perhaps things might change by tomorrow. However, it can’t rain without warming up somewhat. That leaves me expecting some pretty snowflakes soon. Terri told me that Hawaii is suffering from a sort of winter itself, lots of clouds, rain and wind lately, not enough to keep her out of the swimming pool but still a little uncomfortable. We all have our problems when it comes to the weather.

. . . We had a very clear but cool day today. I did walk for an hour before lunch then right after lunch I went Christmas shopping again. This time I actually did some spending too. Christmas shopping usually falls into place for me once I get started. It is just hard for me to get started. I came home about 3PM and had a little snack and watched some TV before driving over to Teigen’s’ place for dinner. Caren had fixed a very tasty roast with all of the fixins, good eats, for sure! I left to come home a bit before 8PM and she handed me several containers of food that should last me for at least three meals. As I am typing this Oregon is running all over UCLA so I may watch that game for a few more minutes before going to bed and reading myself to sleep. . . . BTW, Has anyone heard from Tammy Larsen? She has dropped off the edge of the world or something. Tammy, are you out there?

 . . . .The Green Bay Packers finally learned how to catch a forward pass with 58 seconds to go. Astounding!

            My day at the bowling alley was not astounding but I was a happy boy as I walked out the door this afternoon. My scores were 170-111-141-146-144-142. That gave me a 142 average for the session. I would have been really happy if that 111 had not popped up.

After bowling I spent a little time Christmas shopping but bought nothing. I then stopped by Teigen's house on the way home but Caren and Ashton were out for the afternoon so I missed them. Ron and the Baby were trying to nap but Colter was not about to let that happen. I got sleepy just watching the baby snore so I didn’t stay long. That is when I went home and turned on the ball game. My plan for the evening is to fix a bowl of popcorn and find a commercial free movie to snuggle up with. It was a good day, just the kind I like! Warmer weather would have been nice though.

. . . . I walked about two miles today. It was not all at one time but at least I did put in the time. I now have Skype on my laptop so I will be able to be in touch with others who have Skype while I am out of town. I used the laptop for most of the day; paid some bills, made some purchases [Christmas is coming] and am now convinced that it will work well for me while I am out of town. I have decided that when I grow up I want to go to LSU to learn how to play football. They did good today. Doggie is fine, I’m fine and tomorrow I will go bowling and perhaps do some Christmas shopping.

Friday. . . . . I am using my laptop for this blog posting. It appears I must use a 'sticky note' to type out the entry then copy and post to the Blog. At least that was my first impression because the laptop does not have 'word'. I was using 'word' because it has the spell checker; something I can not live without. I am able to type directly to the blog but so far have been unable to find a spell checker. Now that I have started this posting I have decided that the 'sticky note' feature does not have a spell checker either. In the future when posting to the blog I will write it in the email program and use that spell checker before copy and pasting to the blog.....I spent mmost of this day inside working on the laptop and getting my laundry caught up. I did get in a couple of short walks inside the house while downloading the email program I will be using....The sun was out most of the day but it was rather cool. I think we came very close to a frost this morning, I expect the first snow fall before many days go by. Darn it! It was a good day, fun learning more about the laptop and doing some reading too. BTW, I started War and Peace again. Since I now know the characters it may be easier to follow the story.

            I think I have the Laptop loaded with the stuff I want so it is ready to go. Now I have to wait until the middle of January before I leave. I am looking forward to the trip and the two months of sunshine. Ain’t life grand! ?

. . . . I spent most of the day getting acquainted with my laptop. I finally got it to work on my little WiFi station here in the apartment. I also walked for an hour, the exercise is very good for me, and I hope I can keep it up. I know, nothing to it but to do it. I am also trying to break the ice cream habit, that stuff is not really what I need. I have celery sticks and carrots as well as apples to nibble on. I also invented my own trail mix but may have overdone the M&M’s. It’s always something. Tomorrow is Bowling; I’m looking forward to that. ChiChi is doing fine, getting sort of chubby though.

. . . .It was not warm today but we didn’t have any rain either. I walked for an hour before lunch then after lunch I got email from Wal-Mart to come pickup my new Dell Laptop. ChiChi and I drove into town for that and we stopped by Safeway on the way home. I also filled up the gas tank because my Safeway discount made it $3.37 per gallon. It needed filling and what better time? I arrived home about 2PM and after putting away the groceries I decided to take a short nap. It was after 4PM before I opened the box containing my new toy.

I became acquainted with it until O’Reilly came on at 5PM. It is a very interesting little gadget. After watching O’Reilly I got back to the laptop but felt in way over my head right away. Something came up called Preparing recovery Image. I just let it run itself out, I have no idea what it was doing. I have yet to try getting on the Internet so I don’t know if my wireless router works or not. Film at Eleven

 . . . . It took a while for the rain to begin today but there was a nice, steady, light shower coming down by 10AM. My trip to the bowling alley did not produce a lot of good news; 115-115-163-130-130-126 = 129 average. A bad day on Sunday usually means good results on league day so I am now excited about Thursday arriving. The rain has been coming down in a very steady manner like rain does around here. The temperature is about 60f so I won’t complain too much. I got back to the house in time to watch the Seattle Football game. The day turned out to be quiet and I stayed inside. Thanksgiving Day

. . . . My little apartment is now a WiFi station. All I need is a laptop to test it. That will be obtained sometime this weekend I suppose. I’ll keep you posted! That permanent rain storm is still hanging around and about noon the wind really picked up for a few minutes.  I watched football this morning and the game ended a couple of minutes before I had to leave to meet Ron, Caren and the kids for dinner. I had the Sizzler turkey meal. I asked if I could get dark meat but they said no, breast only. I prefer dark meat but It was good, the first Turkey I have had this Holiday season. Caren had also cooked a turkey yesterday and she offered me some of that so I went by their place for a few minutes. Sol phoned while I was there and I got to talk to him for a minute too, he will be home in about 18 months, he's looking forward to that day. . . . This was a good day, doggie and I are doing well, enjoying the rain and wind from inside. It will be nice to see the sunshine again but that may be a while in coming.

. . . Another quiet day on Pleasant Hill. I did drive into town this afternoon to have lunch with the Larsen Boys, Mel and Bill. We had a nice meal and happy conversation while the rains came down outside. After dropping Bill off at his place I stopped by Wal-mart to look at Laptops again. I did purchase a Wireless router for my place. I understand one of those is required in order for the laptop to work in my neighborhood. It would be nice if it were strong enough to cover some of the houses in the neighborhood but I doubt that will happen. I was home in time to catch O’Reilly at 5PM but he was running reruns because he was taking the rest of the week off. I decided to turn on the computer and get my blog up to date instead. As usual I ate too much today and never did do any walking to speak of. I’m bad.

. . . A huge rainstorm has us in its grip. I did get to Bernita's place for a haircut today before driving in to town and throw 6 lines at the bowling alley. 161-153-141-152-138-103 for an average of 141. That last game really shot me down but at least I know I can do much better than my present League average. After bowling I stopped by Teigen's for a while [Caren gave me another container of dinner to bring home]. I left there about 2:30 and drove home in a blinding rain storm.  . . . A nice rain storm passed by early this morning, looks like more is on the way though. Happily the temperature is above freezing so there will be no snow at this level. Not for a few more days at least. Lets hope! I decided against bowling today because I have to be out tomorrow anyway. I might as well kill two birds…..It is time for my haircut, that’s the reason for being out. I renewed my subscription to my  cell phone for another year. $110.00. I don’t use the phone a lot  so now I have 1300 minutes to use before next November 30. I didn’t think I was going to get in any walking at all but that proved to be a lie. I walked almost an hour and felt much better for having done it. The Radar picture shows more rain due in a few minutes. That’s Washington, folks.

 . . . The expected cold snap did not materialize. The temp outside my window this morning was at 32f but there was no sign of frost. That is just fine with me! I drove to the bowling alley this morning [they open at 11AM, usually]. When I arrived at that time the parking lot was full and all of the alleys were taken. I guess they had a special day set aside for half the county so I went to Safeway and then drove back home. I may try bowling tomorrow, there is nothing else on my schedule. There was not a lot of rain today and the 'possible' snow never developed either. As a matter of fact the sun was out for a while this afternoon. I did walk long enough to make my doctor happy, that is a good thing. . . . .Spent some time sleeping in front of the TV during NASCAR and watched a movie early evening while eating popcorn. It was a pretty good day, ChiChi is doing fine too.

. . . No snow here but it is cold enough, this afternoon the sun was shining brightly into the bedroom and warming my toes while I read. I fell asleep and woke up in time to catch the last nine laps of the NASCAR race.

I watched Oregon/Washington football earlier but that almost put me to sleep so I decided to read away the second half. Never have heard how that game came out. It probably turned out to be a cliff hanger! The Oregon USC game certainly was.

. . . When I checked the weather report this morning the forecast was for snow!! I was out and about before noon and never saw snow falling but there was a car in town with snow on the roof. Looks like it is nearby at least. This evening weather radar shows possible showers during the night. The temp is to drop to 29 so perhaps there will be a trace of snow on Pleasant Hill in the morning. It has been a quiet day, just the way I like ‘em.

 I was happy with my bowling results this afternoon. 157=153=122. That produced an average of 144 which is a bit higher than my league average of 138. Things are looking up. I had lunch just before leaving the house but two hours later, when I started the third game I could tell my blood sugar was dropping. I ate a candy bar but I had waited too long and the game ended before the sugar took affect. I think in the future I should plan on eating a hot dog or something similar during my second game so that will not happen. . . . We are enjoying a nice rain storm today, I think I even hear thunder. However, that could be Roy moving stuff around in his garage next door. Madeline, my Sister in Law in Shreveport sent me an Office Depot add about a possible 17 inch HP Laptop that I will look into. Caren also put me on to a good deal with Dell so I think it will not be long and I will be the proud owner of a Laptop animal of some sort.

. . . Walked for an hour today. It was done in the house while listening to Hannity on the radio. When the hour ended I felt like I had walked a good distance, doggie took a nap so it did him no good. Life is tough on dogs. I am looking forward to bowling tomorrow; hopefully the walk today will help loosen me up and make bowling a success. We shall see!! I searched the web for a laptop and found a 17.3” H.P. refurbished for under $400. I like H.P. products but I am not sure if going with a refurbished item is a good idea. Any thoughts?… Anybody?… Don’t be shy!

. . The first time I checked the thermometer this morning it read 40o. The weather report claimed  almost  freezing during the night. I have no idea why I am bothering to write about it; cold is coming and all of my postings will not change that fact one bit.. . .  Never did get in any walking today except during commercials when I had the TV on. Got a note from Terri: She has been swimming in the warm sunshine of Hawaii! Rich people. I continued with ‘War and Peace’, that book is a monster to wade through but if I can pay attention I find the author tells a pretty good story. This is my second reading and I remember very little of the first. I’ve been searching on line for information about laptop computers, I will be making myself a present of one for Christmas. Unless someone…No, no, never happen! I have put my fat little doggie on a diet, only gets to eat twice a day, all he wants out of the bowl each time then it is stored for leftovers until next meal time. I think he will loose weight because he can’t really hold a lot in that small tummy. The only problem is he wakes me up every morning before sunrise because he is hungry. That may be best, no need for me to sleep my life away anyway.  Caren phoned, she had some Lasagna waiting for me to come get. She phoned about the time O’Reilly was coming on so I told her I would stop by after 6M. ChiChi and I arrived about 6:15 and was greeted at the door by both Ron and Ashton. They had not yet had dinner so I was invited to sit down for a nice meal and conversation. Caren mentioned that she has  a good relationship with Dell Computer and thought she might be able to get me a deal so I asked her to go for it. It will be nice if she can save me some money and or get me into an even better deal than I could make at any store. I was planning on going to Wal-Mart but they don’t sell Dell equipment. I think that is true. About 8PM ChiChi and I left with enough food for two more meals of Lasagna. It has been a good day. ChiChi would disagree. I don’t think he is too happy with the diet he is on.

. .. . . . . .The local doe strolled by my living room window about dark last night while I was watching TV. She kept an eye on  me for several minutes before going about her business. I looked for the young buck but he was not to be seen. No walk today, the rain was threatening and I did not want to melt my sugary self all over the street. Tonight I will waste time in front of my Monday night commercials and get to bed late. Like 9PM.

Sunday      The rain hit pretty hard today so I did not get out for a walk but I did bowl 6 lines and that is worth a bit of exercise. My scores were 116-150-166-158-157-128- for a 146 average. I am pleased with my results, the three step delivery worked for me today and I am hoping it works as well far into the future. I stopped by Safeway for more ice cream on the way home and actually went by Teigens house before going home. All is fine there, Ron and Ashton were hauling wood up to the porch and stacking it, getting ready for the first snows that could hit any day now. Ashton and I played at the chess board for about a half hour before I headed home to put away the melted ice cream. On the way I remembered Mel had cooked a large ham and wanted to give me a couple of pounds of it so I went by there for a few minutes too. When I got home I checked my email then turned on the Seattle Football game after NASCAR went off the air. One of our local boys won that race!

The ice cream containers were soft when I finally remembered to put them away but no harm done.

 For some reason I looked out my bedroom window just as it was getting light and saw a small buck and doe about 50 feet away. We stared at each other for 3-4 minutes before I left the window. I returned several times within the next half hour and they were still in the general area looking back at me. I don't know if they were waiting for me to return or if they just liked staring at the window. My camera was in the car so I never did try to take a picture. I doubt I would have been successful because it was not yet daylight. He was a most curious guy and his ears were almost as large as his horns. . . . When I went to bed last night I decided to re-read War and Peace. I wonder if I will get through it before I leave town in January. I am going to try to really absorb it this time, good luck with that! . . . I was able to force myself into walking for about forty minutes again today. I know I feel a lot better when I do that and hope to continue. I am not too good about loving to exercise. This morning  weather radar showed a large storm engulfing Olympia about 60 miles north of here. By 2:30 the barometer had dropped as low as I have seen it since I moved in and the sky was dark, windy and getting wet. The drought is over, wonderful! Not.

 . . My final scores while bowling were almost my average but I had to get there the hard way. 116-118-174 created an average of 136 which is a bit under my league average. I was surprised by the last score because I accidentally started the game with a three step delivery and got a strike. I figured it was a fluke but I continued bowling that way and for some reason it seems to have helped. I am excited about getting back down there on Sunday and trying my luck. While bowling the Manager of the Longview Jiffy lube store stopped by my car and left his card after reading the not so friendly remark I have painted on my back window. I phoned him when I got home and he gave me a phone number to contact about my complaint. Of course I had to talk to a recorder when I called the number but if I get a return call it will be the first one since February when all of this began. We are still rain free in this part of the world and the radar picture looks good for at least the rest of today. It was about 38 when I got up this morning but the fog was in and when that burned off we ended up with sunshine!

This evening I watched my favorite Thursday Night commercials on TV and tried to decide which of my many unread books to pick up next. Or I may try War and Peace again. It has been about ten years since the first reading. I’ll keep you posted.

. . . .This was another do nothing day, didn’t even get in a walk. The weather was not the reason-I was just too lazy to get off my duff. I did read a lot while the washing machine was running and napped a while waiting for the dryer to finish. Folding clothes was the most exercise I got all day. Tomorrow will be a bowling day so I hope that helps my exercise program  a bit. I sat in front of the TV and watched the Republican candidates answer a bunch of stupid questions from the liberal media that was running the program. That was not a lot of fun except when the audience booed a question now and then. I wonder why the left leaning media [most of it is] thinks the American public is so stupid. Oh Well, that’s politics and I love it! I think I will go to bed early and read more of Charles Dickens.

…..We were lucky with our weather today, no rain and as a matter of fact the sun even came out for a while. I didn't do any walking but it sure would have been a fine day for it. The temp was near the 60's. There is a monster storm heading for Alaska and I suppose it will be here later in the week. I hope it is all 'snowed out' before it arrives. Bob, one of the guys at lunch today was nice enough to tell me he liked reading my "Day with Dad' on Wordpress.

Made me feel good to find someone who got a kick out of it. I know Cousin Sharon and Virgil enjoyed it too, of course her dad, Cliff, was in the story. I think that was the part that I did not get entirely correct but I never did go back and make any changes after she talked to me.

I watched 'Dancing with the Stars' during commercial breaks last night. Most of the 'Dancing' commercials came on about the same time as the shows I was watching so I missed a lot. The guy who wanted to get the 30 points got them, I noticed. After 2 n1/2 Men went off I tried to stay up for 'Castle' but it didn't work. I went to bed and fell asleep reading Hard Times by Dickens. After lunch with the guys I stopped by Safeway for some ice cream and gasoline. $3.51 per gallon on the gas. A lot more for the ice cream. I think I should give up the ice cream. I might turn on the TV again this evening, for a while, then get back to my book.

. I walked for 40 minutes this afternoon, that is becoming a habit with me. My hope is to continue strengthening that habit. We had a little sunshine this morning but the clouds rolled in by lunch time. Nothing new is happening around here. I am still trying to get my weight down but I am sure that is a lost cause. My BMI is 22 and I am told that is about right so perhaps I should stop giving it any thought. NO! That will make it too easy for me to eat even more! Can’t have that.

. . . .I finished breakfast and walked forty minutes all before 9:15 this morning. We still have not had a frost but the temperature is getting closer to 32 each morning. There was a lot of fog in the air; I was expecting nicer weather as that burned off and as the day progressed that came about. I went bowling today; 134-134-111-153-123-158- That was close to a 136 average and a couple of points below my league average. I feel I will do better Thursday. I got back to the house in time to watch most of the NASCAR race and catch a nap in the process. This evening I will enjoy a movie with popcorn, cheese and sliced apple. I sure like the change in time; I have trouble waking up in the morning and seeing darkness.

. . . . I was up early this morning, doggie wanted breakfast so I fed him about six and decided to fix myself some French toast. I spent a little time puttering around the kitchen after breakfast while waiting for the sun to come up. The clouds must have been extra thick because it still felt like night time at 8AM.

There was some cold rain falling but that stopped before long and it just turned out to be a dark, nothing day. I got in a nap or two and ate about 1/3 of a container of spaghetti that Caren had left on my doorstep yesterday. I must say that was good cookin'! At least the day ended with the grass all dry and the radar showing rain off the coast. Good place for it. I hope it stays there. This evening I watched the Cain-Gingrich debate then a few commercials before calling it a night.

. . . Terri arrived happy and healthy! That warm Hawaii sunshine will really perk her up in a hurry, I bet!…Before she left she gifted some of her Dad’s tools and car cleaning items to me so I spent this morning going through everything and putting it all away where it will be easy to reach should I be in the need. I also got some bowls for the kitchen and she even left me some candies that I like. Life is good but it would be better in Hawaii. I will get my turn January 16^th when my plane leaves for Mexico, Yea! Yea!. I was able to sneak in a 40 minute walk today, I walked in the house and was able to keep up a nonstop pace for the whole time. ChiChi thinks I’m nuts but what does he know?

. . . The big news of the day is my bowling results- 136- 151- 137= 141 average. That is a few points better than my league average so I am a little happy about it. After stopping by Safeway for a few things I went over to Teigen's for a half hour or so. They are doing fine. No complaints. Caren sent me home with some cooked green beans in bacon. I had half of that and a slice of bread for dinner, didn’t want to eat too much because I plan on putting away some ice cream later in the evening while watching some of my favorite commercials. . . . Terri is on a big airplane heading for some Hawaiian sunshine! Rich people have all of the luck! Momma always liked her best, I guess!

. . . The sun broke through the fog layer around 11AM. The bright, blue sky was a wonder to see! I did watch the barometer drop from 1,000mb to 990 by 3PM though. Radar showed rain on the coast. Looks like I will get wet driving to the bowling alley tomorrow.

By 6:30 the rain had arrived here in abundance.  That should raise the river a foot or so. I was able to get in another 40 minute walk today. I made an effort to cut down on my eating too. I will ruin all of my efforts by having ice cream and peaches before going to bed. I phoned Billy this evening, he seemed to be in a good mood. We are always happy to know he is doing OK.

. . . During the months of September and October I had a total of 892 hits on my blog! Thanks, all of you! There was a bit of fog in the area about 9:15 when I left for Tigard. Weather radar showed spots of showers between here and there also. I’m happy to say the entire day went without rain. It certainly was cold though! After arriving at Terri’s place I loaded four boxes of stuff to deliver to Jean and Ben. Arriving at their place in Canby about noon Jean was nice enough to fix lunch for us while we visited and caught up on what has been going on in their world. Knowing it would be a while before finding Terri home again I stopped by a used book store in Canby to purchase something to help me while away the time. I ended up spending a lot of time in the Home Style Buffet in Tigard sipping on hot chocolate and reading. Later, when I arrived at Terri’s place I happened upon one of Terri’s friends in the process of running a carpet cleaner around the place. She had made the carpet cleaner machine a gift to herself at her last birthday. Terri told me later that the lady loves to clean carpet and did it at no charge. I asked Terri what the lady did for a living and she told me she was a district Judge. Yesterday I told you how her Sister had set up the movers, right? Well, her Sister is a Judge also. Some crowd my lady runs in! We waited until after 7PM for Steve, her neighbor to get home to help us move the large TV out of the apartment. He looked at the monster and told me it might be easier for him to pick it up alone and carry it out to the vehicle [his] and load it for the short trip to the storage locker about a mile away. I readily agreed and a few minutes later the TV was safely put away. Problem solved. I gave Terri a kiss and a big hug and expressed my hope that she could fly to Mazatlan in January so we could enjoy some nice winter weather together. If not, it will be at least four months before we meet again.. .  .I arrived home close to 11PM and had chocolate cookies with peanut butter and a glass of milk before hitting the hay. I posted this as soon as I got up Wednesday morning. Now lets see what adventures today brings!

. . . Change of plan, I did not go to Tigard today. Terri had to run an errand for her sister so I  will drive down tomorrow and help her clear her apartment so the landlord can take  possession. She will be leaving Thursday to spend part of the winter in Hawaii. My hope is that she will join me in Mexico later but that is still up in the air. The sun was kind enough to pop out for a while today and I decided to get in a forty minute walk. Bowling would have been more fun but  walk is cheaper and takes no gasoline. I have to save my money for Mazatlan. I was told I will need a ton or two. This evening I plan on watching my favorite Monday night commercials and being in bed by 9:30. I will be leaving here about 9am for the drive to Tigard.

. . I had a good day at the bowling alley; 159-135-170-111-163-148- turned out to be a 148 average, now I have to find a way to relax and do as well when league bowling. Today was the day my lottery ticket was due to be cashed in too. I forgot all about it but if someone from the bowling alley ever won any money they would know about it right away and tell me about it. I am the only one who buys ten draws ahead. That tells me I am not a winner, so I will wait until Thursday to turn in the ticket and buy another one. I am planning on popcorn and a movie tonight but I am going to post this first. There were a few raindrops around here today but not while I had the car out so it will still be clean when I drive to Tigard tomorrow and help Terri move the remaining stuff out of her place. I did get in about a twenty minute walk today, slowly getting back into the habit.
