TUESDAY

.   .   .   .   .   My first five lines today averaged out at 151 but I dropped off to a 144 during the second five. The daily average of 148 was not too bad for me. Lets see how well I do on Thursday when the league meets. The temperature might have reached 50 today but I cant swear to it. It never felt that warm.

MONDAY

. . . . . . . This was a fairly nice day but I never did get out of the house. My Bad.
I spent time trying to download books to my Nook but although the computer screen tells me they are there I have yet to find them on the nook itself. I did find 928 pictures that I had no intention of loading to the nook. I have no idea how that happened. I did find a way to remove them but still can not find the free books. I will try again tomorrow if it doesn't  get in the way of my bowling.

SUNDAY

. . . . . . The temperature crawled up to 53 by early afternoon, not bad for this time of year. My bowling was not too hot today but my first five lines put me above my league average of 136 and the second five lines came out as 146. That is close to 142 for the day.. . . . .I got home in time to pop up a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the Seattle football game.. . . I got a note from Natalia, she said she was at the bowling alley yesterday so she knows it is open. I will be packing my bowling ball for the first time. The alley has been closed the past two winters in Mazatlan.

SATURDAY

. . . . . . Doggy and I washed the car today. The sun had come out and that was so tempting I could not refuse. That amounted to a little exercise, altho far from enough. I downloaded some free books to my documents folder in the computer today but still have not figured out how to get them to the Nook. It has been a lazy day and I enjoyed the last of the lasagna for lunch. I will have to return the container to Caren and see what else she has to offer.

FRIDAY

. . . . . . . I don't think the temperature got above 40 degrees today. I stopped by the Pharmacy this afternoon to get stocked up on enough meds to last me until I get home in March but it looks like it will not be easy. I have to get on the phone Monday and see what the doctors can do to help me.. . . . . I drove by Teigen's place today with ChiChi and we visited for a couple of hours. I was able to log on to Caren's WiFi and register my Nook HD tablet. I also downloaded four books from Barnes and Noble that should keep me busy for a while. She has sent me instructions for further downloading without having to go through my router. {t requires a password  that I don't have}. I had lunch while over there and she sent me home with a large serving of lasagna made from good stuff-delicious stuff! ChiChi was happy to get out of the house for a while and was well behaved. He is mellowing as he ages. It started raining on the way home. Lets hope the temperature stays above freezing.

THURSDAY

. . . . . . A slow day......I did get to the bowling alley for league day but my score was a couple of points below my league average so I felt sort of poopy the rest of the afternoon. I stopped by Safeway for a few more supplies to keep my going for the next two weeks then went home and buried my sorrows in food. I gave some thought to washing the car but that never happened. thinking ain't doing, you know. Roy put his truck on Craigs List today and the first phone call came ten minutes later, he thinks the guy is going to buy it. He had a total of ten calls the first hour. It is a 2002 four door pickup desiel. A real monster and he asked $15,000 for it.

CHRISTMAS DAY 2013

. . . . . . I spent the entire day eating and sleeping. I also tried to get my NookHD on line but it refused to recognise my router without a password. I contacted Cisco who made the router and was told they could help me but it would cost me. There was no further information available. They have my phone number, perhaps they will phone me tomorrow. It is a shame to buy a piece of equipment from the company and find you also have to pay for a password. I was not expecting any problem because both my puter and laptop were able to access the router without the password.. . . I may drive over to Caren's place tomorrow and see if I can access the Internet via her router. After I go bowling that is.

TUESDAY

. . . . . . I bowled ten lines today and produced a 137.2 average. Of course I was not overly pleased with that score but it was one pin better than my league average. About 2:30 I drove over to the Teigens to help them celebrate Christmas Eve. Ron's folks and Solomon were there as well as Ruby and Coltor. We all had pizza before the annual gift exchange. I  had a piece of pumpkin pie for dessert. I also scarfed down two Rum and Cokes. A good time was had by all and I am now the proud owner of a Nook Ebook. I will play with that tomorrow and see how much money I have to spend to get all the books I want on it.. . . . This evening Ron was standing in front of the fireplace with his back toward it trying to get warm. I pointed out to him that the fireplace was really a TV presentation of a fire place. He said he was wondering why he was not getting warm. Coltor got into the act by put his hand out toward the flame and pulled it back quickly yelling "Ouch". He walked away from it muttering something about it was burning his sweater. .  .  .  .It was a fine Christmas, I hope we have another one hundred just like it. Merry Christmas!

MONDAY

.   .   .   .   ChiChi received his bath today. He did not approve but I got away without any loss of blood. The leather gloves were slightly damaged in the process but that only adds to the damage done on previous bathings. I am beginning to see a slight mellowing in him as far as baths are concerned. If he lives another ten years he may by then be able to accept bathing as a necessary evil. We shall see. . . . . The rest of the day was spent reading and napping as well as enjoying watching the rain come down. There was a lucky break in the afternoon when the sun was out for some time. That is always a welcome sight this time of year.

SUNDAY

. . . .  After breakfast I laid down to read. The idea was to kill time until the bowling alley opened at 10:30. Well, I fell asleep and woke up at 11AM. It was later than I had expected but I got there and bowled a 130 average for the first five lines and only 143 for the second five. The only good thing was that I did bowl my league average for the day. I was experimenting with putting a 'hook' on the ball and that did not go really well. However, one of my games while doing that came out to a 181. I will go back on Tuesday and try it again. . . . I stopped by Safeway to fill the gas tank and paid 2.999 per gallon. I can not remember the last time I got off so cheap.  The temperature is 50 degrees at sundown, with rain. The car is dirty but I can't seem to get at that job. So it goes on Pleasant Hill.

SATURDAY

. . . .I posted my Presidential Libraries Project to YouTube this morning. Try this link and see if it works for you: http://www.youtube.com/celford52. . . . . . The rest of the day was spent staying warm. The temperature outside may have reached 50 degrees but I doubt it. I watched a three hour movie with Kevin Costner called 'The Postman'. I had never heard of it before; I would rate it a B+.

FRIDAY

. . . . . . . The high temperature for the day was about 38 degrees. That is not good. Rain started falling as the sun went down. I noticed it when ChiChi came in from outside and jumped into my lap. I can also report that it is a cold rain. .  .   .   .  Today I completed the audio portion of my YouTube Presidential Libraries slide show. Tomorrow I plan on posting it and putting the notice on FaceBook. . . . This was a day without exercise and I notice that fact; I feel sluggish and worn out. I made no effort to get to the fishing hole because I am convinced there are no fish available. And it is too cold out there!

THURSDAY

. . . . .Compared with my League average my 143 average for today was pretty good. I was not happy with the fact that I did not do as well as I usually do on non-league days. At least we as a team did win overall and that is always good. Only Noreen and I showed up on our team so bowling went pretty fast. After bowling I had a short snack with Charlotte then came home to settle in for the evening. She suggested I visit the Columbia Theater this evening to see a stage play called "Scrooge on Trial" or something like that. I may go but it starts about my bed time. We will see. Right now I am waiting for O'Reilly to end. I'll decide after that.

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . . . This turned out to be another lazy day. I did get into town to do some banking and while there I stopped by to see Billy. He is doing fine; I got to meet his new care-giver. He is a skinny little guy and I have forgotten his name already. On the way home I stopped to do a little Christmas shopping for Ruby, Sol's little girl. I discovered that she will be at the Teigens Christmas Party and I had not picked out a gift for her. That little problem is now solved. I also delivered Mel's Christmas gift and visited with him for a couple of minutes. Tomorrow is bowling day, I am very interested to see how well I do. I wish me luck!

TUESDAY

.   .   .   .   .Great day at the bowling alley! My average for the 15 lines came out to 148.6. The first five lines [before lunch] was 143 and after lunch I averaged 154.6. That gave me a 148.9 average at the time and since I felt I could beat that I bowled five more. That amounted to only 148 I am happy with the results, especially since I was bowling as well at the end as I had been when I began. I will go down again Tuesday and see how well I do before facing the team on Thursday.. . . . .After bowling I stopped by Safeway and stocked up on enough stuff to last me until I leave town on January 8th. At least I hope I have enough, I don't want a lot of foods in the pantry to sit and dry out while I'm away for the winter.

Monday, December 16, 2013

MONDAY

.   .   .   .   .   I had to get out to the Post Office today so I stopped by Teigens too.
I guess I was there for less than an hour but it was a fun visit. They have their Christmas tree up. I suppose this will be the first one Colton will ever remember. Got back to the house in time to take a nap and have a snack before Monday Night Football came on. No rain today and the temperature was not too bad for this time of year. That can't last much longer.

Sunday, December 15, 2013

SUNDAY

.   .   .   .   .   I surprised myself with good bowling results today. I averaged 155.2 during ten lines of bowling. The not so surprising result was the 148 average before I ate lunch and the 171 after I had lunch. The high game of the day was 187 and the low was 117.  This evening I wasted time in the recliner watching Green Bay play football in Dallas. It was a great game but taking a walk would have been better for me. The weather is cool but I am happy to announce we have had no rain.

SATURDAY

. . . . . . This turned out to be a most unremarkable day, absolutely nothing was accomplished, at least not at this address. I don't know about yours. The Army/Navy game was a bust after the first quarter except for the snow. I really enjoy watching those guys attempting a forward pass with the snow so thick the ball can hardly be seen flying through the air. I turned on a commercial free movie called 'Total Recall' and after twenty minutes I knew why it was commercial free. It was not worth putting in front of an audience. There was no rain today, that pleased me. The temperature stayed above freezing too, that is always nice. I will get a good nights  sleep and give tomorrow a chance.

Friday, December 13, 2013

FRIDAY

.   .   .   .   I enjoyed another nice day at the bowling alley. My first five lines averaged out at 145 and the come-back second set was 152. The third produced  147.  The 147 turned out to also be the average for the day. I did bowl a low of 108 and just before that I came up with the high of the day, 187. I was beginning to feel I had had enough by the time I finished the fifteenth line. . . . .  I fell asleep in the recliner this evening so I am sure I received enough exercise for the day. I plan on returning Sunday. I'm doing so well I have to keep at it just to prove to myself that I can do it. . . . . The river is slowly becoming clear again but it is really too high to bother fishing. I am sure the silt has built up in the sitting area and there have been no fish reported. It is all a good excuse to stay home and pig out. Speaking of which: my weight has reached 208. I have never weighed this much. Too bad that can't be my bowling score!

THURSDAY

. . . . . . . . I had a good time today. It took a bit too long to get my protime test completed so I was later than I had wished to arrive at the Christmas luncheon. The luncheon went well, there were 44 people there. Forty six had promised to attend but at the last minute one of the couples was unable to make it. The Turkey dinner was tasty and seconds were available. I was good and did not order seconds of anything. Champagne was also on the menu, good stuff, Champagne. . . . Mead Zeigler was good enough to pick up the bar tab for those of us who chose to imbibe. I might have gone for seconds on that but it was not offered. I was sitting next to Mead and had I made a noise there is no doubt he would have gotten a kick out of the idea and gone for it. I thought better of  pushing him for fear I might be caught for that duty next year.. .  .On the other side of me was Bob, he got honorable mention during the proceedings for coming up with any spare dollars that were needed during the creation of the festivities. Bob is getting around really well and there were lots of folks there who were happy to see him progressing at top speed. It was close to 3PM when I got home. I settled in and watched the Denver football game for the evening.. . .The freezing weather is not so freezing and is not to be for some days. A lot of rain is expected at lower levels, the snow will be in the hills though. Even the low hills.

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . I was pleased to see no snow on the roads this morning as I drove into town for my Kidney Doctor appointment. The Doctor reported that my stressed kidney that was discovered six months ago shows a lessening of whatever was ailing it. The meds will not be changed because the thought is that that may be what is helping the situation. My next appointment with him will be in one year. Now if Spring would come early [like next week] I would be doing just peachy-keen. The temperature in South Kelso, at the airport, is 32 at the present but there is no precipitation on radar within 200 miles of here. Perhaps the skies will be clear tomorrow when the local members of the class of '52' all get together for their Christmas Party. That is to start at noon-thirty at the Kelso Eagles. . .  .Before I get to that I have to stop by the lab and get my pro time checked; nice weather would be just fine with me.

TUESDAY

.  .  .  .  .  The temperature was 31 when I left for the drive into town this morning. The highways were clear so no problem but when I got within a couple of blocks of the Silver Star the street suddenly became solid ice. Thin ice to be sure but still very slippery. As I pulled into the parking spot I applied my brakes and gently slid the last four feet or so to a stop.. . . .Lunch was fun but only half a dozen got there. Some of the gang live out in the toolies and that drive in might have been too much for them. Bob was there for the first time in several months, it sure was good to see him doing so well. . . . . . After lunch I stopped by the bowling alley to see how well I had remembered my lessons from last time. My first five lines came to a 151 average but I improved during the second five and came up with a 159. That gave me a 155.5 for the day. Not bad for a kid. Especially this kid. . . .  .I stopped by Teigens place after leaving the bowling alley and visited with Ron for a short time. I also left my Christmas presents and returned the empty food containers Caren had sent me home with earlier. Caren was not home, off running around someplace I guess. The temperature is now 34 and rain is expected tomorrow. I'm glad it is rain because I have to see my Kidney doctor in the morning for my annual checkup. I'm feeling pretty good, those bowling scores certainly perk me up!

MONDAY

.  .  .  .  Another cold day! I did walk out to the mail box, a total of 6 feet. I've caught up on my reading and napping. Happy to know I will be going to the class of '52' luncheon tomorrow and the bowling alley. The weather site shows precipitation about 60 miles West of Kelso and at these low temperatures there is no doubt it will be snow. Hopefully it will not be so much that I can't get out by 11AM. Tomorrow afternoon rain is promised and the freezing temps are to subside. I am in favor of that!  .   .   .   .   . At the moment Monday Night Football is coming from very cold Chicago. I will have to turn up the thermostat to get comfortable but I may watch that for a while.

Sunday, December 8, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . The temperature was 16 this morning but it had gone up to 21 by the time I drove into town for my Sunday bowling excursion. I notice as I type this at 6:50 pm that the temperature is 25.  My bowling went well, my low game was 143 and my high was 173. I came home with a 157 average for the day. I only got to bowl seven lines because the bowling alley was sold out as of noon; a large group had reserved all 32 lanes. After bowling I stopped by Big Five and purchased a soccer  ball as a Christmas gift for some little tykes that the class of 52 is sponsoring this Season.  I will take the gift with me on Thursday when I go to the dinner we are having on Thursday. Thus no bowling this week. I will be League bowling only three more times before I leave for Mazatlan on January 8th. It would be nice if I could continue bowling this well for the next three weeks.

Saturday, December 7, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . . . . . The temperature outside my living room window was 18 this morning. The temperature on my puter screen told me it was 16 at the Kelso airport. As I write this it claims 23 to be the present temperature. It is safe to say that little of the snow melted today although the sun was bright this afternoon. If all goes well I will return to the bowling alley tomorrow. That depends on what time Seattle plays football on TV. I have had a runny nose most of the day and my voice is a little deeper than usual. That may hold be back from bowling.

Friday, December 6, 2013

FRIDAY

. . . . . .The snow was coming down when I got out of the sack this morning. At one point the flakes were large, fat, and wet. I am happy to say it did not last long but it never melted so we still have it covering everything. I have not been out all day but I suspect that the streets are clear because no more snow has  accumulated. Goody, goody. Perhaps it amounted to half an inch in depth. OK, that is enough winter, how long before spring begins?

Thursday, December 5, 2013

THURSDAY

. . . . . .Brrrrrrr. It was cold this morning. At least 26 degrees and perhaps worse. I am happy the roads were dry on my way to the lab for my blood draw. I held off eating breakfast because that was a fasting blood draw. I got to the bowling alley about 10:15 and ordered ham and eggs. I will blame that big meal for my especially good results of 124-176-187. The 162 average was my best showing at league bowling in many months. It is too bad I was not able to get into the 'grove' during the first game. Sorry to say none of my games matched the four players on the opposing team, we lost soundly. Maybe we will get them next time.. . . .Now that Bob is out of Frontier I had no reason to stick around town so I got home by 2:30. . . . . The river is very high and very dirty looking, and cold. There will be no fishing for some time, I am sure.  At the fishing hole the water level is over the sitting area floor by about a foot. I don't know why they are letting so much water out of the lake but it is roaring down the valley and into the Columbia at about 17,000 cubic feet per second. Ahollottawata.

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . .
The weather was cold and dry this morning as I fired up the car and headed to Frontier to pick up Bob.  He was ready to go and while he was at the front desk checking out I hauled his stuff out to the car and loaded the trunk with it. This was the first time I have visited his place.  His parents had it built in 1933 on top of a hill with 20 acres. The view at the time must have been wonderful, overlooking south Kelso. He and his father planted several trees that have over the years more or less eliminated the view. Bob visits auctions for the fun of it and his house and property show what he has purchased during the past years. He has a hankering for old clocks and old tube radios, working or not. It was a great visit and he gave me three bottles of 11 year old Charles Shaw Merlot from Napa, California. I have yet to taste it but that won't take too long, I'm sure. I was home early and spent the day reading a good book Bob had also given me. .  .  .  .I have been pulling a few chains on Facebook today, I trust I have not made too many enemies.

Tuesday, December 3, 2013

TUESDAY

. . . . . Today was a nice day to drive to Vancouver for another doctor appointment.  The old prostate is not any better so I am to double my Flo-max meds and see if that helps. I will phone the doctor in a couple of weeks and give him my report. . The drive back at noon was done in 43 degree temperatures. It was cool enough but the sun did come out in the afternoon. . . . .I stopped by the bowling alley and was not too disappointed with the results. My first three lines averaged 139 and the second three came to 136. The last three helped a lot with 153. My worst game was 104. That was not good but I followed it with a 158. I will get better. . . . .Checked in with Bob again today, he will be released tomorrow at about noon, I will go in early and load the car with his stuff and then drive him home as soon as they let him out.. . . .My Cardiologist suggested I try Coconut water as a drink to take the place of sugar drinks. I bought some during my stop at Safeway today. Sorry I did. It ain't so good, I think. I purchased four eleven ounce bottles, I suppose I will drink them but I will not buy more. I will find some other way to cut out the soda drinks in my diet.

Monday, December 2, 2013

MONDAY

. . . . .I had a nice drive to Beaverton today. Just for the heck of it I walked up the stairs to the ninth floor where my doctor is located. I had to stop at the eighth to catch my breath but that only took about thirty seconds. My Cardiologist told me she sometimes has to stop three times on her walk up. . . .  .She gave me a good report, she feels my heart is doing very well considering the damage it has suffered in the past. Coming home it took an hour to get from St. Vincent hospital to the bridge over the Columbia. I would guess that to be about twelve miles. I was home by 6pm, just in time to turn on the Seahawks game. The weather was rainy and cold all day, I expect it will freeze tonight. Tomorrow I have to be in Vancouver at ten-thirty for another checkup regarding my prostate. Lets hope there is no snow!

Sunday, December 1, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . . .The barometer is still reading above 30 and the rain is coming down. At least it is not cold enough to snow; that could change overnight, of course. I was pleased with my bowling today. The first five lines came to 141.4 and when I buckled down and really concentrated I brought it up to 146.4 with the second five. . . . .After bowling I did some more Christmas shopping then stopped in to see Bob before coming home. I was pretty hungry so I didn't stay too long. This evening it was more football and Sunday night popcorn.

Saturday, November 30, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . .  .I discovered two deer outside my bedroom window this morning. I find that to be a very quiet and relaxing experience. It is not rare around here either. . . .  .ChiChi and I were at the fishing hole for four hours today, the water was great and the fish bait fresh but still no takers. I saw no other fishermen out there. I suppose most folks are disappointed in their recent fishing results and are staying home. The air was cool and there was a thick layer of clouds but without the wind it was bearable. I guessed the temperature to be about 45f.

Friday, November 29, 2013

FRIDAY

. . . . I was really pleased with my bowling results today. The first five lines averaged 154 and the second produced a 148. Total pins for the ten lines came to 1512. I arrived knowing exactly how I was going to approach the foul line and as long as I continued doing that I was successful. There were two games when I lost my concentration, a 129 and a 139 but as soon as I began really concentrating I did well. I will say that the two  low games mentioned came just before I had lunch. The four lines after lunch averaged 153. I guess the secrete is to bowl with a full stomach and concentrate! I will return Sunday and see how well I remember my lesson. . .  .After bowling I stopped by Wal-mart to begin Christmas shopping and to stock up on fishing gear. One of these days I will surprise myself and catch a fish large enough to bring home. . . .  .I checked on Bob on my way home, we watched the last five minutes of the Washington/Washington football game then the therapy tech came by and took him away for some exercise. I will see him again Sunday and we will decide when he will be coming home. It is my plan to help him out with that but I also have a doctor appointment in Beaverton on Monday and then Vancouver on Tuesday. It'll work out, I'm sure.

THANKSGIVING 2013

. . . . .I had a great dinner with the Teigens this afternoon; there were almost a dozen people there and all went will. Lots of good food, you can always count on Caren for that, and lots of fine company. I was sent home with enough left overs to keep me going for several days. . . .  .I noticed on the web site that the river has dropped almost two feet so perhaps Saturday I will try another few hours at the fishing hole. The only problem is that bad weather is expected soon. Tomorrow I will try the bowling alley then stop on the way home to resupply my fishing box with a few necessary items I have lost to the river. It was a good day. I left ChiChi home because he is not good with strangers and he was most pleased when I drove in to supply him with his dinner.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . ChiChi and I were at the fishing hole for four hours today. There were no clouds in the sky and no fish in the river. It was a comfortable day at the edge of the water but I did forget to take my book along so I used the free time as an excuse to grab the idiot stick and clean out the two inches of sand the last high water left on the floor of the sitting area. Those concrete tiles Mel donated and I laid are really nice to have there when attempting to remove the sand. The river water is still high, another foot of water and the sitting area will again be flooded. We are hoping that cold weather will stop the river from rising. The only problem then is that fishing is not as comfortable. I will spend more time at the bowling alley. It is just as frustrating as not catching fish but it is warmer.

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

TUESDAY

. . . . . I bowled twenty lines again today. Did not do too hot a job of it though. My first five came to an average of 130 and I improved on that during the second five with a 136 average. It was at this point that I threw caution to the winds and started experimenting with my delivery. I did not keep score [I was in no mood]. The last ten lines only produced a 117 average which made my days total a 132. Perhaps I learned a few things during that last ten lines but time will tell. I will try again on Friday. . .  ..Stopped in to see Bob again today, he mentioned that he may get released a day or two earlier than expected and took my phone number so he can call me for a ride home should it become necessary. I told him I would be ready anytime he wished. . . . My plan was to stop by Teigen's today but I was too hungry and tired so I just went home and fed the dog before sitting down with some salsa and chips. [Too much salt, I'm sure].  I purchased a new ten-draw lottery card today, I never win anything but I keep trying. Just like my bowling. Even a steer can try, you know.

MONDAY

. . . . . . Doggy and I got out of the house for an hour today. We strolled down to the river and found it to still be a bit high but clearing nicely. I could tell ChiChi was pleased with the walk because he was out in front pulling on the leash when it was necessary for him to be leashed and doing some exploring on his own at other times. The sunshine was very welcome although it would have been nice for the wind to have died down a bit while we were out. I imagine I will be going to the bowling alley tomorrow but if the water drops a little and the sun is out I will be fishing again the next day. This evening is Monday night football and popcorn, a combination that is hard to beat.

SUNDAY

. . . . . .My hours at the bowling alley turned out well today. The first five lines was above my average at a nice [for me] 139. I was beginning to feel hungry toward the end of the second set of five lines but I still came out of it with a a 147.
After eating a small hamburger and a drink I felt perky enough to try another round of five and that one ended with an average of 148. That means that for the day I bowled a 144 average. Not bad for a young guy! What especially pleased me was the 14the line. That ended up being a 208. That is the first time in over a year that I have bowled above 200. I feel that I know what it takes to bowl better but I have to learn how to really concentrate on each and every ball I throw. If I don't do that I fail too often.. . .  . I stopped in to see Bob again today; he is doing very well and looking forward to getting home on December 6th. This evening doggy and I watched football and ate too much.

SATURDAY

. . . . . . Too much football, food and napping today. I accomplished nothing to speak of and should have at least taken the dog for a walk. My bad.

FRIDAY

. . . . .The temperature at the Kelso airport this morning was 26. The sunshine all day was nice to see but I never did leave the house.  I spent time on the 13 Presidents program for YouTube. I have cut out everything except the actual 13 groups of pictures and it still runs over 30 minutes. I will perhaps make a second show of the drive without the Libraries included. Time will tell.

THURSDAY

. . . . . .Bowling was not great today but I did score one pin above my average. I think we won but not by much.   I had my laundry all caught up and put away before leaving for bowling, that is an accomplishment, for me. Checked in on Bob again today, he is looking good and looking forward to getting home. To his own cooking, not so much. The river is still dirty but this clear weather might change that soon. The barometer read 30.5 when I got up his morning. I marked it with a marking pen because I have never seen it that high since Terri gave it to me a couple of years ago. The temp outside was 30, that is one below as far as I am concerned. -1c . Mazatlan is looking better every day!

WEDNESDAY

. . .  . .I did get out in the sunshine today to wash the car. I can't say much for the temperature but the sunshine and clear skies were most welcome. I will mark the day as an exercise completed one. That is a requirement of my weight scale that I have to get on twice a day. It is hooked to my telephone and the results of the questions it asks are sent on to the health monitor. 'Did you exercise today?' is one of the questions. Mission accomplished. At least for this day. Tomorrow I will use League bowling day as my excuse.

TUESDAY

. . . .  . . . I spent four hours at the bowling alley today. I stayed so long because I was trying like the devil to bring my daily average up but it never happened, After twenty lines I had only a 131 average and sore thighs. The four 5 line breakdown came to 125.4-136.0-125.4-139.4. The only good thing for the day was that the last five lines were the best. However, the lady only charged me for 17 lines so that was a nice thing too. . .  .When I left the bowling alley I found that I had parked under a street light that the birds use for afternoon pooping and the rear deck of the car was covered in the stuff. Good weather is expected for tomorrow so I will wash the car. It will be good exercise if nothing else!. .  .I visited with Bob for a while this afternoon. A couple more weeks and he will be going home to his own cooking. I am not sure he is looking forward to that part of leaving but getting home is a wish he does have, of course.

MONDAY

. . .  . . .It rained most of the day so doggy and I stayed inside and waited for Monday night football to arrive. I did do a lot of reading and made every effort to not eat too much. I can gain weight just by breathing, it seems. Roy delivered my mail today but he still has a bad cough. I told him to get back to the house and get well. He said no when I offered to take the trash out to the street. Stubborn guy.

SUNDAY

. . . . . This turned out to be a very unhealthy day for me. I did absolutely nothing all day. With the exception of eating too much. It was football and NASCAR. It rained just enough to convince me to not get out and get a couple of miles of walking. The rain is keeping the river too high for fishing, not to mention that that is not much exercise either. Something may come up tomorrow but if not I expect it to be about the same. With a bit of luck the sun will come out long enough for me to force myself into going for a walk. Wish me luck!

SATURDAY

. . . . I arrived at Mel's place shortly after noon and found both he and Billy unloading the KFC goodies on to the table. Mel found a shoot 'em up movie on the ION channel and we enjoyed an early afternoon get together. I delivered billy to his place later and since I was so close I decided to bowl a few lines. I was interested to see if my luck was still holding regarding my new delivery style. My first five lines produced a 152 average but I fell to a 139 during the second half of the afternoon. The average for the entire session came to 145.5. I was happy with that. The nice part is that most of my games were close to the average, I feel that shows consistency, that is something I need a lot more of. Now to continue that well when I bowl for the team on Thursdays. Time will tell.. . . . On the way home I stopped in to say hi to Bob, he showed me how well he can get out of the bed and lope around the room using his walker. About three more weeks and he expects to be out of there and home doing his own cooking again.

FRIDAY

. . . . Doggy and I were at the fishing hole for a while. Still no fish though. We got there just in time to get comfortable reading when the rain started. I put the book away and pulled ChiChi onto my lap and sat under the umbrella for two hours. My patience finally ran out and we left for home about 1PM. The rain stopped shortly after. Life is like that. As soon as I got inside Roy's wife phoned and asked me to walk to the mail box to get the mail. She said Roy was not feeling well and she did not want him out of the house. ChiChi and I did that although the dog did not venture too far from the house like he usually does; I think he had had enough rain for one day and did not wish to tempt the fates any further. When I got to Roy's back door to leave the mail Ilona met me and said that Roy was on the floor and could not get up. I went inside and helped him get on to the couch, he has a terrible cough and says he will visit the hospital tomorrow if he is not doing better. I suggested he go without waiting but he is as stubborn as I am and said he would wait. I told Ilona to phone me if she needs help again, she said she would but the phone never rang.

THURSDAY

. . . . . .Bowling was almost good today. I bowled a 165 and felt great; then bowled a 99 and decided to never bowl again. The third line became a 153 and since my average for the day was five pins above my league average I decided to try again next week.  Visited Bob again for a while before stopping by Safeway to fill the gas tank [$3.06 per gal] and buy some more goodies. There was off and on rain today, I will check the possibility of fishing tomorrow if the rain has stopped. At least the temperature is acceptable.

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . .  .Doggy and I spent three hours at the fishing hole today. It was a nice day at the river but there still are no fish and I saw no others making any effort..  ....The Army Corps of Engineers arrived in a 16 foot boat to check the water level gage that sits on Mel's land. There were three of them, all hydraulic engineers. I chided them about the expense of sending three highly paid professionals to do the job a high school dropout could attend to with one hours instruction. I think they were not too happy with my humor. Of course it was not really very funny and I am sure they would have liked to sit me 'straight' but they didn't. I watched them ride off in their little boat and wondered how much annual salary was represented in the craft. The tax payers are really getting ripped off. And we wonder why the voters never seem to complain. I think I will join the TEA Party. Are there are any Liberals who would join me?

TUESDAY

. . . . .I arrived at the bowling alley at 10:45 to begin my practice for the day. After thirty minutes or so I had a 122 average after three lines and remembered that I was supposed to be at the watering hole to meet the '52' Gang for lunch. I quickly changed shoes and stuffed my bowling bag with the necessaries before dropping it on the counter in the lobby. I told the girl to hang on to the the bag and I would be back in an hour. The lunch was fun but we  did miss Bob, as could be expected. There were about ten of us there today. I stayed for a while after eating but I was the third one to wave good by and leave. Upon arriving back at the bowling alley she told me that she had rented my lane to others but I could have lane eleven and not be charged for the three lines I had already bowled. Sounded like a winner to me. My results for the day after a total of 15 lines turned out to be pretty good. In multiples of three lines each my averages were 120-128-157-151-154. That was good, the final twelve lines produced an average of 148. My final nine  was a phenomenal [for me] 154 average. It will be a very happy day if I can do as well on Thursday; when it really counts. Film at eleven. . . . .I stopped in to see Bob again, he was being visited by a pretty lady we had gone to school with and I did not stay too long after bragging about my bowling results.. .  . . On the way home I went by Teigens place to take a look at the five stitches Ron had in his right hand. He was swinging a long pipe at a cow to get its attention and in the process ruined his hand. The hand looks awful but I am sure it will heal with only slight scarring. Before my leaving Caren filled a large container with enough food for three meals and sent me home with it. Her home cooking sure beats my home cooking. By many miles! Love it!. . .The river looks good, if the weather holds [the barometer is dropping] I will try to catch a fish tomorrow. We will see how that goes.

MONDAY

. . . .  I spent more time on my slide show this morning. I now have all of the pictures in order and edited. Next time I get at it I will be preparing the audio section. My problem is that at four seconds each the pictures take up over 40 minutes. If I add audio I am sure that is going to stretch things out even more. Folks are not interested in watching home made slide shows that last that long. I suppose that will be something each one will have to decide for himself. . . . Doggy and I walked down to the river today. Had I known how clear the water was I would have gone fishing. But the walk offers more exercise so I reckon I did the right thing. I may try the fishing idea again on Wednesday. Tomorrow is Bowling practice again.

Sunday, November 10, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . My first five lines were not so hot today. 125. I did buckle down though and show an improvement of 140 or so during the second five lines. My final average was 133. Really aggravating but I can only continue with the practicing. Billy had his 44th Birthday today so I stopped in for a minute and visited. He was watching NASCAR and we didn't have a lot to talk about anyway. He, Mel and I will get together next week and share a KFC meal as a Birthday present. KFC is his favorite. All three of us like dead chicken the way KFC prepares it.. . . .I also stopped by to say hello to Bob again. I didn't stay long because I was getting hungry and he was waiting for lunch to arrive. At least there was no rain today, I'd like to wash the car but I am not convinced the rainy season is over. Maybe next June.

Saturday, November 9, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . . I was most pleased to see five deer walk by my living room window this morning. That is a very relaxing experience that I am happy to enjoy several times a year. . . . This day was really lazy, I accomplished nothing unless you want to count watching NASCAR as not being lazy. There are a few football games on this evening  I may attempt to watch; they have to be exciting enough for me to ignore the commercials though. If not I will turn the TV off and go read myself to sleep.

FRIDAY

. . . .  .There was little rain today and I noticed in the early afternoon that Doggy was acting like a puppy so I decided he might need to get out of the house for a while. He was even more happy when he saw me pick up the leash and start out the door. We walked down to the river and back; he seemed pleased to be out and about. The river is very high, my guess is that it is over the sitting area at the fishing hole so I don't feel bad about not going in that direction. It also a bit dirty so perhaps fishing can be considered a possibility early next week.. .  .I did spend some more time with my Thirteen Presidential Library's project. All of the pictures I am going to use are in order so now I can begin producing a slide show. It has been slow going because I only work on it when I am really in the mood. I think I spend more time on my chess moves.

Thursday, November 7, 2013

THURSDAY

. . .  .I feel very unhappy with my bowling today, 122-155-106. When I got home I sat in the rocking chair and had a beer to drown my sorrows. I can not come up with an excuse of any kind, and that makes it even worse. My bad. Needless to say we lost badly. I was low scorer of the eight players on the two teams. . . . I stopped by to say howdy to Bob on the way home. I am happy to report that he is now traversing the halls of that establishment with a walker. While I was leaving I met his nurse in the hall and she said 'good timing, I am my way to give him some execise'. They are taking good care of him. When I arrived home I fed the dog, who is feeling a lot better, got myself some lunch and pig ed out in front of the TV. There was a lot of rain today, I suppose the river is coming up and getting too dirty for fishing tomorrow.

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . .  .ChiChi is showing a lot of improvement today. I did leave him home while I spent four cool hours at the fishing hole. I didn't catch any fish but I feel sure that if there were any there and they liked fish eggs I would have had a strike or two. . . . . No rain today and the wind was not too bad but I never did feel comfortable.

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

TUESDAY

. . . . . Bowling went well today. The first five lines became a 142.6 average and the second five ended with 153.4 average. That comes out to 148 for the day. I was pretty happy on the drive home. On the way I stopped in to check on Bob and to brag about my bowling. He has one more month and he will be out of that place and home doing his own cooking again. . . .  .I also stopped by Teigens again to discover that they were in the back yard yesterday doing some work while I was there tracking through the house looking for them. Caren sent me home with more of her home cooking. That is becoming a habit I can get used to! She is a good cook! Just like her Mom was!

Monday, November 4, 2013

MONDAY

. . . . . ChiChi has been having coughing spells for some time and since they are not getting any better I drove him to the vet this afternoon. It appears he has fluid on his lungs and the doctor gave him an injection that should clear things up. He also gave me some Furosemide 12.5 mg tablets to administer every 12 hours. I gave him one with his dinner at 3pm but have yet to see him pee'n. I am sure he will be in and out of his doggy door several times during the night. Perhaps the injection has made him lazy because he is doing a lot of napping this evening. I drove by Teigens to drop off some magazines and return a food container but they were not home. The housekeeper was driving the vacuum around the living room so I left the stuff on the kitchen counter and returned home. Home consisted of a movie and some more Football. {Green Bay} The river still appeared to be a bit dirty; I hope it clears up so I can back to fishing.

Sunday, November 3, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . My bowling showed a little improvement today; my first five lines brought in a 150 but the second five was only 134. I can't complain about a 142.6 overall for the day. I plan on being back on Tuesday and giving it another shot. . . . .After bowling I stopped by to see Bob again, for a few minutes; he was sitting at a table with other 'inmates' and I did not wish to bother him. He is looking good, I believe he will be at the class luncheon on Dec. 12. I also expect to see him at the '52' lunch on the 10th of December. I arrived home in time to catch the end of the NASCAR race and to watch the Seahawks sneak by Tampa Bay by the skin of their teeth. This was 'popcorn Sunday' so I suppose my weight will shoot up another pound or so. At least I forgot to salt the stuff. That was a happy accident. I still used too much butter though. My bad.

Saturday, November 2, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . . . . The dog and I spent another three hours relaxing at the river. Still no fish but I believe that could change any day. . .  .The weather was nice, wet, sunny, windy and cloudy several time while we were there. The temperature was acceptable; above 50 at least. The barometer is bouncing all over the place. Gettin' so a person can't depend on nothin' these days.

Friday, November 1, 2013

FRIDAY

. . . . Three hours at the fishing hole resulted in no fish, Sort of like my bowling scores. The weather was beautiful if cool and I started a new book called 'Mr. Shivers'. It is fiction based in the 30's. I am not much for fiction but I got the book at the Dollar Store for a buck so how can I go wrong. Tonight there is a NASCAR race on TV which will take up some time and after that I will go to bed and continue the book. Kinda' boring? You think?

Thursday, October 31, 2013

THURSDAY

.......I had to drive through a light rain in order to get to the bowling alley today. I arrived at the very last second because I also had a Pro time check at the hospital at 11:30. The blood check was fine and my bowling results were as good. 140-133-148 was the result of the series. My second line was the best score on the team and the last one was tied with the best score of the team. I'm beginning to feel a bit better about my league results. Now to keep it up!. . .  .Stopped by to see Bob on my way home, his niece was visiting and I didn't stay too long. Watched football this evening without pigging out. I did break down and ate my evening cookies and milk before the day ended though.

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . . . Doggy and I spent almost four hours at the fishing hole today. There are still no fish in there but that water looks really inviting for fish. Rain is expected Saturday and that might makes things more difficult but maybe it will bring the fish in. If it stays 'warm' I will put up with some rain. The temperature was 36 again this morning when I got up. Feels a lot like winter!

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

TUESDAY

. . . . . It appears I bowl much better if I concentrate mightily each time I walk to the line. Today I averaged 132 for the first five lines then decided to slow down and really 'put all' into my delivery for the next five lines. That resulted in a 154 average. I only accomplished a 143 for the day but that is several pins above my average so lesson learned [again].. . .  .After bowling I drove by Billy's place but he was not sitting out in the nice weather so I just waved at the house and continued on to see my good buddy Bob who is recovering from a broken leg/hip.
He is doing fine and looking well. I stayed about 20 minutes but was getting hungry so I left to get my Safeway stop completed before driving home. No ball games on schedule for tonight so perhaps I will get to bed early and catch up on my reading.

Monday, October 28, 2013

MONDAY

. . . . . .It was a beautiful day to be at the fishing hole. When I woke up this morning I was really surprised to see the sun shinning and not a cloud in the sky. The temperature was fine atthe river but that was only because I was wearing my Blizzard Suit. After fishing we came home and watched Baseball and Football while enjoying some Sunday Night popcorn that we didn't have last night.

Sunday, October 27, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . . I am happy to report that I did get into town for ten lines of bowling today. I averaged only 136 but that is better than my league average so I guess I will not complain. . . .I stopped in to check up on Bob again today and on the way I saw Billy sitting on his front porch enjoying a dry spell between showers. I stopped for two minutes just to say howdy and let him know I am still alive and well. . . . Bob is doing well and I did not stay long since he was enjoying lunch. . . . .I watched the end of the NASCAR race and part of the Redskins Football game. This evening I tuned into the World Series during the commercials of Morgan Freeman's Science show. The title of that was 'What is nothing". That is the sort of thing I enjoy on TV. It is not easy to find though. I could say that most television is 'nothing' I suppose. It was a good day but the rain was a surprise, the weather man did not expect it. It can never be ruled out around here though.

Saturday, October 26, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . . . The World Series game I thought I would be watching last night is on tonight. I have been switching between that and the Oregon Ducks football game.. . . ChiChi and I were at the fishing hole for almost three hours today without catching anything, of course. It turned out to be a nice afternoon after the clouds parted and allowed the sun to show his face. I will attempt to stay awake long enough to watch the end of the ball game. Last night I made the mistake of turning on the movie 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?' and it ran until ten. I was sleepy when it started but like a good book I was unable to put it down. I don't think I had ever seen it before. It was one of the better Hollywood productions. Very well done and no foul language, I have no idea why it is so difficult to do that these days. Perhaps it has a lot to do with the 'dumbing down of America' that is going on.

Friday, October 25, 2013

FRIDAY

. . . . . Got to the fishing hole around noon and left just before 3 o'clock without catching anything. The wind was not bad today. The sun never did come out from behind those thick clouds; I was able to take the cool day with little trouble. Tonight I will watch the World Series commercials for a while and if the game keeps me awake I will be up late enough to see who wins.

Thursday, October 24, 2013

THURSDAY

. . . . . . .Remembering Barbara today. . . . . . My bowling experience was poopy again. I averaged 125 for the three lines and my team lost. We were playing the same team I bowled with last year. I hate when that happens. . . . . I stopped in to watch Bob do some therapy workouts today. He's doing fine and loves the food in that place. . . . .  On the way home I drove by Teigens for a short visit. Sol has purchased a small pickup to get around in. Things are going fine with them. Caren sent me home with a large bowl of stew and another jar of jam. I have yet to finish the previous jam she gave me.. . . .The weather was great, I may get in some fishing tomorrow. Gotta' wait till morning to see if the sun is going to come out.

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . ChiChi and I were at the fishing hole for three hours. We didn't catch a fish but the sunshine was nice. The temperature was 46 when we arrived around noon and was 66 by 3PM when we drove home. I'm still using a bobber with eggs; I don't believe there are any Stealhead available these days and am convinced that when they arrive I will hook a few. [Have to be positive, you know]. . . . .  The World Series is on, 40 degrees in Boston. That is like playing baseball in the wintertime.

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

TUESDAY

. . . . . I bowled ten lines again today. The first five averaged out at 130.8 and when I settled down and really payed attention I got a 137.2 for the second five. I didn't feel good about it because my league average is/was 135 and this only came out to 134. Thursday is League bowling. I'd like to raise my average but you know how that goes. . . . . .After bowling I stopped in to see how Bob was doing with his broken hip. He appears to be well and happy, expects to check out of there on December 6th. I am guessing he will make that date in good shape.

Monday, October 21, 2013

MONDAY

. . . . .  .I had the laundry all caught up by 9:30 this morning. I am happy to count that as exercise. . . . Doggy and I spent about four hours at the fishing hole today. It was very cool until the sun came out around 1PM. After that is was a pleasure to sit in the sun and listen to the river gurgling by. No fish were caught but I am sure that is only because there are no fish in the river at this time. I have great faith in the eggs I am using for bait, the same ones the Coho went after last week. If the weather holds I will be looking forward to returning on Wednesday. .  . .  .Silly dog rolled in something dirty this afternoon, such a mess. I'm glad he is not sleeping in my bed. He is past due for a bath, but after today I am sure I will have to force myself [and him] into that chore again.

Sunday, October 20, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . .I bowled ten lines and my results were so bad that I threw two more just to bring my average up. Well, that never happened and I ended the day with a 130.5 average for a total of 12 lines. But not to be discouraged, I shall return Tuesday and try, try again. I stopped in to see Bob again after leaving the bowling alley, he is doing very well and looks good enough to walk out of that place and put in a day of work. I am sure his freshly broken hip would not agree but the rest of him is just fine.

Saturday, October 19, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . . . Just another 'nothing' day. I did spend an hour or so on my Presidential Libraries Project but that was about it. I look out the window and see that I have not yet picked up my mail. I watched NASCAR this afternoon and plan on some football this evening. Lazy day.

Friday, October 18, 2013

FRIDAY

. . . . . . . .Doggy and I spent a very quiet three hours at the fishing hole today. There were no boats on the river and I saw no other fishermen so I am taking it for granted that there are also no fish being caught. Had I been sitting in the shaded sitting area I would not have been comfortable  but by moving my chair into the sun all was fine. We got back to the house about 3PM; the weather was cloudless all day but there is no doubt fall is on its way.

Thursday, October 17, 2013

THURSDAY

. . . . I should have stayed home today. Or perhaps just not gone to the bowling alley. The team would have done better because I did not even bowl my league average and we lost. . . . . After bowling I stopped by to check in with Bob in the recovery facility. He is doing very well and I am convinced he will be out of there in early December. . . . .On the way home I stopped in at Safeway to pick up some groceries and while I was there I also got my flu shot for the year. . . . While at Costco last Friday Caren purchased a six can case of electronics duster so I stopped by to pick up my half. She was at a doctors appointment and Ron had no idea what I owed for my half so I took my cans and ran. . . . We had wonderful weather again today, I didn't even wear a jacket when I went in the market. That will not last much longer but the weather man seems to be in a good mood these days. He still predicts another week of Indian Summer. I wonder if that is politically correct. Perhaps we should call it Red Skins Summer. This PC stuff is a lot of crap. According to this person. Man. guy. male. Whatever.

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . . . .I left the house at 11:30 this morning in able to keep my appointment in Portland for my Pacemaker check. I have joined a control group of 1500 patients across the country who have the same device implanted in their chests. The plan is for the hospitals to pay special attention to us for the next three years to determine if the device truly is faulty [some claim so] or not. The main problem is the insulation around the wires being absorbed by the body and the wire coming in contact with bare muscle. I guess some folks have had the device shock them unnecessarily at various times. There was no sign of that problem with me. I will return every six months for the next three years. I will not have to go during the winter time though, that is a good thing. . . . .It was relaxing to be on the road for a couple of hours today, the weather was great for driving and the hours were such that there was no heavy traffic either direction. The care is running like a top. I even was lucky enough to get the cruise control to work for me during the trip. It has not been working at all for the past couple of weeks. I guess something is jamming it up. At least I know that the fuse is not blown.

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

TUESDAY

. . . .  .ChiChi and I drove to the fishing hole this afternoon. The weather was beautiful if cool but the water is showing a great improvement. I put a plug in the water and started a new book. About five minutes later I had a fish on. I was sitting about 50 feet away from the pole and by the time I got there the fish was already played out. I reeled in a two pound Coho and removed the hook before tossing him back in the water. He did not swim away so I figured perhaps I would take him home and put him in the frying pan. I placed the landing net over him so he could not float away and twenty minutes later I noticed that he had regained enough sense to swim through the netting and escape. Good for him. So far this year I have caught and released three small fish. One hundred years from now there will no longer be any fish in the Cowlitz River. Too bad.

Monday, October 14, 2013

MONDAY

. . . . .I kept my appointment with my dentist. She sure is a cute little thing, a real doll, great smile. She did a fine job filling the one tooth and waved good by as I left. The girl in the front office is Jessie James reincarnated, she robbed me of $308.75. That much for a single filling? I have heard that houses of ill repute are a lot like that; you love the girls but the Madam will steal you blind. . . . . I also stopped by the bowling alley and did a lousy job for the first five lines getting only a 126 average. When I buckled down and really paid attention I got out of there with a 150 for the second five. . .  .I can only do well when I really pay attention, it seems.. . .  .Stopped by to see Bob in the therapy facility after leaving the bowling alley, lunch came while I was there so I kept him company while he ate. I did not stay too long [he eats fast] and was home by 2:00, in time for my own lunch. The Monday Night Football game is on so I will watch those commercials for a while and see if the game is exciting enough to keep me around.

SUNDAY

.......I hate myself for not getting out of the house and getting a long walk today. There is no excuse for being so lazy. I wasted the day watching football and I suppose eating too much too. Tomorrow I am forced to get out because I have an appointment to be robbed by the local dentist. Perhaps if I am feeling well enough after getting the tooth worked on I will go bowling. If that is not the case I know I will be practicing the next day. There were three football games to sit through today and another one this evening. I just do not know what to say about me.

SATURDAY

. . . . .I had a happy day at the bowling alley today. My first five lines produced a 142 average and the second set of five came to 157, giving me 149.7 for the day. I will return Monday and hope to do as well. After bowling I decided to go see Bob in the Rehab facility. As I was driving down Hudson Avenue I spotted Billy relaxing on his front steps so I stopped and visited with him for a couple of minutes. Billy is looking pretty good. Good color, gets around fairly well. I asked him if he had any complaints these days and he told me he did not like getting phoned early in the morning and reminded to take his medicine. I told him I would not like that either and asked what time they called him. He said about nine or ten o'clock. I then asked what time he goes to bed and he admitted to seven or eight. Life is tough sometimes.. . . I got home in time to watch the end of the Oregon/Washington football game and the start of the NASCAR race. Good weather is expected next week, perhaps the river will clear a bit.

FRIDAY

. . . . . This turned out to be another one of my famous nothing days. The laundry is caught up but that is all I have to brag about. I could have very easily taken the dog for a walk but I was unable to drag myself out of the door except to walk the 6 feet to the mailbox next to the kitchen window. My landlord get his exercise delivering it that far. The weather was threatening all day but I knew walking would be safe because each time I checked the radar picture it showed no rain in the area. Just plain lazy, I suppose.

THURSDAY

. . . . . . My league bowling started out with a bang today. My first line was a 143 and the second line was even better at 155. I was feeling good about my results and felt I would be able to continue into the third game. That is when the computers controlling the two alleys were were bowling on broke down. There was a twenty minute delay while things got repaired and in that time I lost all control of the ball. I was very unhappy with the 113 I turned in. Had I bowled my average in the third line we would have won the series. I felt a little better when I got home and discovered that my average for the day was 137. That is two pins better than my league average.. . .  .After bowling I stopped by to say hello to Billy; he was busy meeting with his caregiver who had pen in hand and was recording things on a note pad. I did not stay long because it was apparent they were discussing stuff that was none of my business. . . .  .I then stopped by the recovery facility that my buddy Bob is in. His hip is not causing him any pain and he is staying with the therapy program. He looks good and has a great attitude about his predicament. One of the guys from the '52' class was visiting him at the time so we had a nice three way conversation.. .  .This evening the plan is to watch Football and try not to eat too many chocolate chip cookies. Off and on rain today, normal for this time of year.

WEDNESDAY

. . . . .Ron and I had lunch at the Sushi Restaurant in Kelso today. He likes sushi and I had never tried the stuff so away we went. It was my Birthday present to him; he suffered through his 59th last Saturday. . . . I can find no fault with Sushi; I ordered what Ron ordered and since he usually does not order the raw fish I still have yet to admit that I have not yet eaten raw sushi. I have no idea what was in my dish except to say that the salad was made of Squid. Perhaps it was uncooked Squid. I don't know. I am not a lover of sea food so I can't say I will make an effort to try it again but I can at least have an idea of what is expected should I ever be invited to that type food in the future. . . . This afternoon I used CheapAir.com to make my reservations for my winter in Mazatlan. The price this year is $544.00. That is $22 higher than last year and does not include the baggage charge but as far as I am concerned it is cheap at half the cost. All of that sunshine, Natalia's  company and her cooking for two months of the winter is hard to beat. A few weeks ago she told me the bowling alley is now open and if that remains the case I plan on taking my bowling ball. Hopefully I will be able to improve my average. The extra exercise is a plus too!

TUESDAY

. . . . ..  . . .I arrived at the lab for my blood draw at 10AM today. I had taken a breakfast drink with me so I would have something to take my morning pills with after the draw. I then stopped by Safeway for some apples and was happy to find some peaches on the shelf too. I love peaches with my cereal in the morning and I had thought I would see no more this year. After that I attended the ‘52’ luncheon. About a dozen showed up minus my friend Bob Vetious. I was told Bob had taken a fall at home and broke his left hip. I was told what recovery facility he was in and after bowling practice I stopped by to see him. He was in therapy and doing well, he realizes how important it is to not be dormant too long at a time and is happy to take part in any exercise program available. He has me convinced that he will be out of there and home again before Christmas. I plan on stopping in to see him each time I drive by the place.. . . My bowling was pretty good, for me. My first five lines created a 128 average and when I really started paying attention I was able to drag a 154 average out of the second 5 lines. The total average for the day was 141 and that is the same as my League results last week. I am happy that is shows some consistency. The true test will be day after tomorrow when I bowl the league games. . . . .This evening, while watching O’Reilly on the TV my Comcast provider went off line, depriving me of telephone, PC and Television. I was able to write this on my Documents program and wait until later to post it. ‘Later’ turned out to be after 9PM. I did get caught up on my reading though, all was not lost!

MONDAY

. . . . .My plan had been to go bowling again today but for some reason I kept putting it off. After lunch I picked up my book and started reading and for some reason decided that too was not for me . I then loaded the car with fish bait and the doggy and drove to the fishing hole. The water is still pretty bad but by using eggs I felt the fish could find my offer by smell. While that was [not] working I put  the idiot stick to work and shoveled the accumulated mud and sand off the sitting area. I was forced under the umbrella three times while it rained like the dickens but I did get the sand removed. We left around four o'clock without any sign of a fish and drove home. The rest of the day was very quiet, I don't remember seeing any more rain either...... My doctor called and asked that I go in for a blood draw in the morning, before breakfast. I am supposed to meet the '52' gang for lunch at 11AM so perhaps that will me my first meal of the day.. . .  .I sprayed the Boundry around my tires and Roy's truck tires this afternoon, I hope that keeps ChiChi from peeing on Roy's tires and garage floor. Time will tell and I am sure Roy will keep me informed of the results.

SUNDAY

. . . . . Doggy and I ventured down the hill this morning to check the river. There was not a cloud in the sky, a most beautiful day. I just checked my on-line weather and it claims rain is expected for 12:15 am, about four and half hours away. I am not going to stay up to see how far off that prediction is.. . . .The river is looking much better, more slate colored than tan or mud. Perhaps this next rain will not be so bad and I can start fishing soon. This afternoon I watched football and a good movie called 'Tumble Weeds'. I have no idea who the actors were but the story was great and I would enjoy seeing what comes next in their lives. Tom, the Computer Guy, delivered the PC about 5:30. Too much dust had settled on the innards of the machine and the power supply burned out. Tom suggested a can of air be used every three months or so to keep it clean. I have put it on my grocery list. It was a good day, Roy has company and their dog gives ChiChi fits so I am forced to keep him inside so he won't bark so much. I have renamed him 'Mister Barker'. Things are good!

SATURDAY

. . . . .I  checked out the condition of the river this afternoon when I drove in to bowling practice. The water is still high and muddy looking with more rain expected by this time tomorrow. Those poor fish; they are getting past me. [As if I would catch one if they didn't].. . . . .The first five lines of bowling today created an average of 147; I felt very good about that but the second five did not hold up to my expectations. The total for ten lines was 139.4... I will return on Monday and try again. After bowling I stopped by Pet Smart and bought some Boundry to use on the tires in the garage. Roy is upset because ChiChi keeps peeing on the tires and leaving wet spots on the floor next to the tires. He only does that when it is raining because the little prince thinks he is too good to go out in the rain just to pee. The little snot-bucket.

FRIDAY

.. . . . . . . . Being in need of some exercise and since the sun was out this morning I washed the car for the first time in several weeks. It is sparkling again, as it should. ChiChi and I drove to the Teigens to dry off the car and to visit with Ron for a while. Caren was in town doing some running around and Ron was in the process of working up enough ambition to mow the grass and if the rain held off wash the car. We didn't stay too long and up to this posting there has been no rain and none expected. It was another good day, we are doing well!

THURSDAY

. . . .  . . . . Spent the morning on the laptop paying some bills then drove in to the bowling alley for the regular Thursday League. My scores were 119- 138- 170 for a 141 average. During the second half of the third line I discovered I was not holding the ball the same as I had been several days ago so after I switched my score rocketed upward. I am sorry I had not discovered this earlier in the day. I also decided that part of my problem is the holes in the ball were a bit too small so after I got home I took a piece of sandpaper to them and my grip is improved because of it. I am looking forward to Saturday when I return for another practice session. The river is   still high  andmuddy so fishing is out. Might try mud wrestling, it is almost that thick.

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . . I never left the house today. I did a lot of reading and generally accomplished little. The river is still high and dirty so perhaps there are a lot of fish getting past the fishermen and getting upriver to spawn. I did notice four deer in the backyard, laying in the sun [when the clouds allowed] and being just about as lazy as I was. If that grass gets any higher I won't be able to see them. That would be a shame, seeing them there is most relaxing.

TUESDAY

. . . . . .I took a look at the river when I drove into town this morning. It was not a pretty sight. It is the color of mud and slowly climbing up the bank. I am sure all of this will change as the weather improves but I expect that to be some days away.. . . . . Bowling was not surprising or encouraging but it was nice to see that my last game of the day was my high game. My average turned out to be 132. No big deal. I am now looking forward to Thursday. My computer is still where ever Tom took it the other day. No report from him as yet. I am happy I have my laptop; it's good to be able to keep up with the world. In the meantime I am wasting time watching commercials on TV.

Monday, September 30, 2013

MONDAY

. . .  .I am happy to report that I did get in a forty minute walk today. I knew I needed that so I would not feel so guilty about sitting in the recliner most of the day watching C-span. I believe I am a political junkie and today was a great day for those of us who are so inclined. I thought I might hear from Tom the Computer Guy but didn't. Most of the day was pretty wet and cloudy, I am sure the river is still a mess. My plan is to go bowling tomorrow and I will check out the river on the drive in. The warm rain we have been having has created a lawn out of the gravel driveway, just in time for winter to slip in and ruin it all. It really looks like spring out there.

Sunday, September 29, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . . .While driving to the bowling alley today I noticed how very dirty the river was. There may not be a lot of fishing done in the next few days. My bowling did not please me but it seldom does. My first five lines produced 146 average and the second ended with 137. Even if I complain my average for the ten lines was about ten pens better than my league average. I am showing improvement. I will just stay with it. Heavy rains arrived again this afternoon. Tom, the Computer Guy stopped by during the worse of it to take the puter in for an exam. I have no idea how long that will take or what the bill will be. Too much in both cases, I'm sure.. . . I am sorry I missed the last quarter of the Seattle football game today. They ended up winning the game. I was in Safeway at the time, going broke as usual. Life is so much fun!

SATURDAY

. . . . . . . . .The rains were just too heavy to venture out today. I stayed inside and tried my best to not eat too much. I watched NASCAR on TV and this evening when I attempted to post my blog I discovered my desk top puter is not working. It acts like the power supply went out. Caren phoned her favorite Computer Guy and he is to come by tomorrow afternoon to check it out. I talked to him on the phone and he said he would take it home with him and attempt to locate the problem. In the meantime I have the lap top sitting on the kitchen table for my enjoyment. Always something. That is the way the mop flops sometimes!

FRIDAY

. . . . . . Great day if you love wet weather; it was not so cold that I stayed away from the fishing hole but it did rain all the time the dog and I were there. No fish of course but that's OK, we can handle it. Reading was not possible because it was just not comfortable enough under that umbrella.  I was not happy sitting under an umbrella with a smelly, wet dog in my lap and the first time I pulled in my lure to check the bait I got hung up on something [again] in the river and lost my hook, sinker spreader and a good piece of line. I was in no mood to tie up a new set of gear because of the rain and I had no more spreaders anyway so I told the dog to pick up anything he wanted to take with him and we left. I did deliver Mel's weed eater to his shed; it was sitting down there getting soaked for no good reason. I then drove by 4-Corners and bought a new fishing lure and some spreaders. After getting home I sat in the kitchen and tied up a new set of rigging and prepared some fish eggs for the next attempt. Doing that sort of work in the kitchen is much easier than doing it with cold wet fingers at the rivers edge. I may go back tomorrow if the rain does not get any worse. I can take the rain pretty well as long as the temperature stays above 50 degrees. I don't expect that kind of weather to last much longer around here.

THURSDAY

. . . . . . . I arrived at Bernetta's place a bit early for my haircut today. I was feeling pretty good about my bowling prospects and wanted to get down there early. I checked out the condition of the river too, on the way. The river appears to be clearing and if the rain stops it might be nice enough to go fishing tomorrow. My bowling results were very good today but it turned out that way because my first game was 185.  The 138 and 134 that followed sort of broke my heart but the final average looked good. 152. I feel I am capable  of bowling with that average on a regular basis; time will tell if that happens. At least I feel I am going in the right direction. My results today really helped the team and that is a good feeling too.

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . . We enjoyed [not] off and on stinky weather today. I went into town to buy a jacket/shirt to wear during the cooler days in Mazatlan this winter and encountered rain on the way in and bright sun on the way back. I stopped in to see Darlene, Mother of my God daughter for a short visit. I have not seen her since her Mom died. She took a nasty fall a few weeks ago and is still healing, I wish the best for her. I snatched a look at the river as I drove by and decided it was too dirty to even miss not going fishing today. Tomorrow I will embarrass myself at the bowling alley and perhaps return to the fishing hole on Friday. Unless we get more rain and the river stays muddy. Caren and Colton stopped by at 5PM to deliver some dinner, she only stayed a minute, perhaps it was ninety seconds, but it was not long. Dinner is always good, thanks, Caren. Doggy and I are doing fine, life is good!

TUESDAY

. . . .  .It was a good day for rain and the rain gods did not disappoint!  My session at the bowling alley ended up with a 126 average after the first five lines. I then buckled down and really paid attention for the next five. That brought me a 145 and when all was added together I came home with a 136 for the day. That is better than my league average so I am happy. I will be happier if I do that well on Thursday. Practice, practice.. . .  .I stopped by Teigens place on the way home. Colton is going to school full days now so I arrived too early to see him. He was upset yesterday because the bus driver got after him for talking too loud on the bus. He gets excited once in a while and his enthusiasm bubbles over his vocal cords.

MONDAY

. . . . . Caught no fish today, what's new with you? The fishing guides are still trolling the river but most of the fishermen are very quiet, no sign that any of the customers are catching anything. I watched a very large Eagle land in a tree whose limb was almost to small to hold him. He was there for only a short time before sailing away about one hundred yards to a larger tree with a less flexible limb. He was a big fella, it looked like he was capable of pulling a 10-12 pound salmon out of the river with little trouble. I'm glad he didn't , I would have been jealous. . . .  There was a light rain most of the day but the temperature was fair enough to be comfortable. The longer that lasts the better I will like it.

Sunday, September 22, 2013

SUNDAY

. . . . . . It began raining as I left for the bowling alley this morning. I am happy I didn't try fishing because the rain continued most of the day. My newly fit ball took a while to get used to and after 5 lines my average was 118. I then began to get the feel of the change and turned in a 148 for the second set of five lines. None of my games were really high scores and I look at that as a positive sign. I am consistent and that is a good thing. I will make another attempt later in the week before bowling in the league on Thursday.. . . I was home by 3PM and the weather was just right outside to be inside with a large bowl of popcorn and a NASCAR race. It was a good day. I'll see what the weather looks like tomorrow. Perhaps I may get lucky at fishing.

Saturday, September 21, 2013

SATURDAY

. . . . .  .Today was a repeat of yesterday. The only difference is that while fishing with eggs today I happened to not be paying attention and let my bait sink to the river bottom. I don't know how long it was before I retrieved it to see how it was doing and found a mud fish had swallowed the hook. The creature was only about four inches long and all he accomplished was keeping a sport fish from seeing my bait. Doggy and I fished until we became bored with it all and came home. Clouds were forming just like yesterday and I did get a few raindrops on the windshield before entering the garage but nothing serious. Jeff Miller stopped by while I was fishing and told me his ten year old son had just landed a 15 pound Chinook today. He gave me some fresh eggs for bait so that will hold me for a day or two. I plan on getting back down there on Monday. Unless something more exciting comes up in the meantime. The way things have been going around here that is not about to happen.

Friday, September 20, 2013

FRIDAY

...............ChiChi and I spent more than three hours fishing today. Didn't even get a bite. I think I might have stayed longer but there was a large dark cloud forming across the river and it did not look happy. We left about 2:30 and drove home. I never did notice any rainfall from the threatening cloud, so be it. We will see how things go tomorrow.

Thursday, September 19, 2013

THURSDAY

. . . . . .My bowling results were really stinky today. I had the bowling ball re sized and that did not help at all. I feel it threw me off stride, I will have to take it to a practice session and get used to it now that it fits correctly.. . . .After bowling I took Charlotte to lunch, I haven't seen her since last winter bowling season ended. She was not bowling during the summer. I fed the doggy when I got home but he refused to eat, the dog food is the same brand but this flavor has more chicken in it than the other one. It appears he does not like change. I am sure that when he gets hungry enough he will decide that change can be good.

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

WEDNESDAY

. . . . . I started the laundry shortly after 7:00 this morning and while that was in the machine I ate a bowl of cereal. All of the stuff was dry and put away by 8:30 so I decided to vacuum the carpet. That is always a big job because I move all of the movable furniture into the kitchen area before starting. The actual vacuuming is not too difficult but by the time I have finished I must return the furniture. By the time the vacuuming is finished I am in no mood to put the furniture back in place. I did it anyway then rested a while before doing the same thing in the bedroom.. . . I didn't spend any time on my YouTube Project, my bad. I did get an early lunch before running off to the fishing hole again. I had another nice sized trout go after my bait but there was no hooking him. The Trout seem to respond well to that Power Bait, my hope is that the steelhead will too. Doggy and I were home by 3PM. We also suffered through a nice downpour while at the river, it did not last as long as the session yesterday but it was a bit cooler today. That is a sure sign of things to come.

TUESDAY

..................I left the house at 9:30 to have my drivers side window worked on at R&R Motors. It has been hanging up when attempting to open so Chris took a look at it. He did what he could, evidently none of the parts that were having trouble were or are easily located for replacement so he did the best he could correcting the channels that were there. He also checked the left front wheel assembly; there had been a rattle coming from that part of the car. He did find a week point and I will have that repaired shortly. My brothers mechanic in Shreveport had forced some grease into the joint and it has been quiet since then but that won't last few many rain storms. After leaving R&R I stopped by the house for  lunch then hit the bowling alley again. I should have stayed home. My average over ten lines was 127. I did leave the bowling ball there to be better sized to my hand so perhaps Thursday when I return to League Bowling I will notice an improvement. Want to bet on that?

Monday, September 16, 2013

MONDAY

..............I used Power Bait while at the fishing hole today. At least I got a nibble from a Harvest Trout who took the bait but left the hook behind. I am sure he spit the bait out as soon as he discovered it was artificial. For that reason he lost all interest in coming back for more. It was not really cool at the rivers edge and when the rain started coming down by the buckets full I sat it out under the umbrella. Doggy had sense enough to lay down under the table next to my fishing box and stay dry too. I was hoping for a trout to take home and put in the fry-pan but no such luck. I will try again, perhaps Wednesday.

Sunday, September 15, 2013

SUNDAY

....................No fishing today, might as well not have gone bowling either. I think I averaged 135.7 over ten lines. After bowling I stopped by the Sport Store and bought some fish bait. Another jar of power bait and a jar of eggs. Before getting home I bought some veggies for a beef soup and put that on to cook when I arrived. It turned out to taste very good, too. I did break down and add a touch of sea salt and I am sure that helped a bunch. The light rain that was expected all day began shortly after I got home and I settled in to watch NASCAR but found that to be rained out. I picked a movie that turned out to be an easy watch then turned on the Seahawks game at 5PM. The light rain is also happening in Seattle tonight. I will decide about fishing when I get up in the morning, have to wait to see how much the river comes up.

Saturday, September 14, 2013

SATURDAY

...............ChiChi and I visited the fishing hole again today but accomplished nothing more than completing a couple more chapters in the book I am reading. There was not a sign of  fish in the water. One did jump shortly after our arrival but that was all. We were there almost four hours and as the day advanced the weather improved; it turned out to be a nice afternoon. When we got home I found a note from the Port Authority of New York in the mail box. It appears I went through a Toll Plaza without paying. As I recall I went through one of those "fast' lines that does not have an attendant so I was unable to pay. My bad. I will pay them via the Internet and have that little incident behind me. The total is $60.00. It will double if it is not paid by the 21st.

Friday, September 13, 2013

FRIDAY

........................ChiChi and I were at the fishing hole by 11am and found it to be a bit cool. I was happy to find a spare jacket crumpled up in the trunk of the car. There were no fish caught but there was a lot of sign that they are in there. A sea otter came by at one point with a mouthful of fish and that is very rare except when there are a lot of fish available for them to follow so far from salt water. For some reason the fish are not striking at anything. It is almost scary, have they become genetically educated to stay away from fishing lures? It makes some sense because the fish who get caught do not reproduce. Fish who do not chase artificial lures are the ones who create fish who do not chase artificial lures? !! Who'd of thunk it? I will try again tomorrow but it is disconcerting to see them rolling in the water and not going after perfectly good fishing lures that have worked very well in the past. I even cast small spinners right over the same spot one of them was rolling in. No takers. Sounds like science fiction to me. We left after five hours of this. I suppose we will return tomorrow, with a heavier jacket too.

Thursday, September 12, 2013

THURSDAY

.................I only averaged 124 bowling today. The Lotto ticket I cashed in paid nothing. It was just one of those days. On the way home from the bowling alley I stopped by Four Corners Store and purchased a new Trout pole with reel. I am unable to interest the salmon so I have decided to try for Harvest Trout and any Steelhead that become interested in Trout Power Bait. The lighter fishing gear will make the catching much more fun; the six pound line will make hooking a Steelhead even more interesting. The weather is great so as long as it lasts I will be visiting the fishing hole. If I get lucky and start catching fish I may even brave the cooler weather and take my umbrella with me.

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

WEDNESDAY

...................ChiChi and I had a nice day at the river even if we didn't catch any fish. There were several Guide Boats coming and going and they didn't show any action either. I did a lot of reading and experimented with different ways to attract  dumb fish while  doggy was getting a lot of exercise chasing a lot of imaginary whatevers. We were home after four hours of quiet bliss, in time to feed him and myself before we both starved. The temperature was around 80 but that was not noticed at the rivers edge, we were really comfortable. I am sure you would have enjoyed the quiet time.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

TUESDAY

.............I forgot all about meeting the gang for lunch today. I was reminded when I saw on of them in Safeway after my bowling session. The bowling experience was not the greatest but I did average 139.3 for the ten lines. It was 142 for the first five. The weather was just fine, let's hope it continues for a long, long time.

Monday, September 9, 2013

MONDAY

..................I was late getting out of bed today, for no apparent reason, so breakfast was late. I then continued working on my YouTube Project and lost track of time so lunch was late. I thought since the river was not too clear I would take the doggy for a walk instead of fishing but by the time lunch ended I just could not get my self in gear. I worked a while more on the pictures then had a 30 minute nap. Warm and muggy today, I hope that continues for another 6 months.

Sunday, September 8, 2013

SUNDAY

...........The car is now nice and clean again. I accomplished that little chore just before having lunch and leaving for the bowling alley. My average for ten lines was 133, not the best I have done but perhaps it bodes well for the next time I get down there. This afternoon I wasted time watching NASCAR and old movies, sans commercials. Tomorrow I may get back to my YouTube slide show, we shall see.

Saturday, September 7, 2013

SATURDAY

.................I started the day off by driving over to the practice fields and watching Colton and his Soccer team perform. Five year olds do have their problems but some of them are pretty game. In this age group they play boys and girls on the same team and some of the girls really get the job done. Colton ended up with a scratch on his knee but I suppose he forgot all about that by the time he got home. I spent more time working on my pictures and tried to get in a nap but was unable to sleep. The evening is being used up watching NASCAR run around in circles.

FRIDAY

. . . . . .I was faced with a conundrum this evening when I discovered O'Reilly and NASCAR were on TV at the same time. I bounced between the two and made it out alive. The earlier part of the day was used up working on my YouTube presentation of the pictures I took on my trip. That is [again] going to be a slow process because I still have trouble remembering exactly how things are done with that program. It is slowly coming back to me and I am also learning some new twists I didn't know existed. I did not wash the car because it looked like rain all afternoon. Mot much came down but it was threatening enough to keep me inside.

THURSDAY

. . . . .This morning I spent a couple of hours on my lap top working on my pictures from the trip just ended. I will post them as a slide show on YouTube when I get them ready. This afternoon I joined the Winter Bowling League again and started off with a 104 game. That made me sick as the dickens but the next 147 and 148 gave me hope for the future. That means I now have a 77 handicap and hope to shave a few points off that. Good luck to me!. . . .A huge rain storm hit about 40 minutes after I got home from the bowling alley. Right now, four hours later, it is still coming down and more is predicted for the rest of the night.

WEDNESDAY

......................I worked a bit on the mess that has existed around her since I got home. Most of it is now cleaned up well enough to allow me to get out for a while and bowl a few lines. My average took a dive from the higher scores I had been making before I left. Today I averaged 137 over ten lines and hope to continue doing as well when Winter League begins at noon tomorrow. Perhaps I will wash the car before leaving for bowling but the weather report is not too promising so I may put that chore off. I still don't have the gumption to get started on the Travel pictures. No rush, it's a hobby thing.

TUESDAY

..............I was certainly not out of bed early this morning. Except for three potty stops during the night I slept 12 hours. I began after breakfast to get my disorganized self in order. I took the bed out of the car and reinstalled the seat after getting everything well vacuumed and wiped down. The car looks great again but tomorrow I will have to work up the energy to wash the darn thing. I would also like to get into town for some bowling practice because the new Winter Season is to start Thursday. Or next Thursday, regardless, I need the practice. I did get my laundry caught up too, before breakfast. The pictures I took are still in the lap top and if time permits I will get them transferred to my desk top so I can begin making the slide show for YouTube. It has been a busy day and I am happy to call it a day now and settle in with the TV before more bedtime.

SUNDAY and Monday

........After leaving the Reagan Library I drove to Palmdale to see an old friend but when I phoned him to tell him I was in town he advised me that he was in no shape to visit so I continued north on Old 99. After the sun went down I found a Rest Area in which to spend the night.  Sunday morning found me near Sacramento so I stopped in to visit Randy and Mickey, old friends from my Southern California days. They were not home so I left a note on the door and continued to Paradise, California to say hello to Cliff and Barbara Quick. I did not stay long but it was nice to have a short conversation with them and Suzie, their sweet doggy. I left them about 3:30 if not later and drove to 30 miles short of Grants Pass, Oregon where another quiet Rest Area beckoned. I slept very well in the cooler, elevated location and was ready to hit the road again by 6:30 this morning. I arrived at the house shortly after noon and immediately grabbed my grocery list that was waiting on the counter and went to Safeway. I had already cleaned out the trunk of the car so the $120.00 worth of food stuff found plenty of room. After putting away the groceries I sat in front of the TV with a sandwich and fell asleep. I awoke about 4PM and drove over to the Teigens to gather up my doggy. He was most pleased to see me. He is a good dog and is slowly learning to love the Teigens. They enjoy his company too. It was a long trip, 10,200 miles in about three weeks. I put all of the expenses on the credit card. I have yet to look at the balance due. Wish me luck. I may, perhaps get back to posting pics but not this evening, I'm pooped.

SATURDAY

…………..SATURDAY 31 ST………I drove to Yorba Linda early Saturday and arrived at the Nixon Library an hour before opening. I used the time to wander around the grounds and snap a few pictures before gaining entry. I was impressed with the Lobby area, they did a good job. The museum was standard fare for the newer facilities, a lot of TV presentations, an opening movie telling of Nixon’s early life [which, like all of the others I passed by]. The tour of the house was interesting and informative. A lot of the furniture is original to the family but there are a few pieces that were added because they were modern for the times, 1912. The kitchen stove is not the one the family had but was close enough to it to fill in.

Parking lot and entrance. Click on it.
The family home built in 1912, on the same property as the Library.

Reagan Entry
After enjoying the Nixon Library I drove to Simi Valley to tour the Reagan extravaganza. I was really impressed with the location. I’m a great lover of the Southern California geography and the view from this Library allows me full enjoyment of Mother Natures wonders…..The Library is huge, it was built around the actual Air Force One and Marine One which are most prominently displayed. How could one not prominently display a full sized Airplane and Helicopter?

I left The Reagan Library around 3:30 and drove to Palmdale to visit friends. I then filled the gas tank and turned North.
