SATURDAY

Saturday. . . I was out early this morning; Natalia was out shopping and arrived just as I was leaving. She was gone when I got up and I had no idea what her plans were so I ate some breakfast and left with my camera. She seemed disappointed that I had already eaten and I felt bad about it but I told her I had no idea what her plans were. I went out on the Malecon to get pictures of the triathlon that was already in progress. The swim part was earlier and I missed the getting out of the water and running to the bicycles. I took several pictures and a couple of short videos, the pictures I will post with explanations as I go along. The videos will not post for some reason. I will work on that some other time. The last picture I took was at the ‘turn around’ at the south end of the Malecon but that may not be the last picture I post. I was at that spot about lunch time and took a break to eat and read.  The festiveness ended during that time and I never did get back to the Malecon, I walked into Old Town and wandered back to the house arriving about 4PM.
The first pictures were taken at the Friday afternoon Registration
This is the entrance to the registration area, the next pic is of some of the contestants.
Each bike had to through a safety/equipment check.
After getting out of the water they would run to their bike and mount it barefooted. Their riding shoes were previousy attached to the pedals. This is the bicycle finish line, at this point they must jump off the bike and push it [running] to their bike rack where the bike was parked in its proper place before they could get into their running shoes and hats. They are barefooted at this point because the riding shoes are attached to the pedals. Usually.
This congtestent has parked the bike.

He is now going to get into his running shoes,

and off he goes for what ever distance it is. 5-6 miles at least.
This is the south end turn around. At this point they return to the finish line and make another U turn go through one more lap.
The finish line is on the other side of the fence, this runner is making his second U turn and will return after completing another complete lap.
This is the finish line where the pretty people cheer them for their accomplishment. I thought I had snapped the pic as a contestant arrived but he is not yet there.
This was sponsored by Pacifico, if it is true they are leaving town they will be missed. They are one of the largest employers.

Looks like one video made it.
